bliss. They arrive, or come, to the gate of Paradise, and there is a ring made of red hyacinth on plates of gold. They strike the ring against the plate, and a chiming sound is heard for it, such that every fair maiden knows that her husband has arrived. So her warden sends her, and he opens it. When he sees him, he falls down before him—Maslamah said: 'I believe he said: prostrating'—so he says: 'Raise your head; I am merely your warden, assigned to your affair.' He follows him and walks in his footsteps. The fair maiden is lightened by eagerness, so she comes out from the tents of pearl and hyacinth to embrace him, then she says: 'You are my beloved and I am your beloved, and I am the eternal who does not die, and I am the blissful who does not become miserable, and I am the content who does not become angry, and I am the resident who does not depart.' He enters a house whose distance from its foundation to its ceiling is one hundred thousand cubits, which he built upon blocks of pearls—layers of yellow, red, and green, no layer of which resembles its fellow. In the house are seventy beds; upon every bed are seventy mattresses; upon every mattress are seventy wives; upon every wife are seventy garments; the marrow of her shin is seen from beneath the garments. He completes his intercourse with her in the measure of one of your nights. These rivers flow from beneath them; rivers of water that does not change taste. If he wishes, he eats standing, if he wishes, he eats sitting, and if he wishes, he eats reclining. Then he recited: "And its shades will be brought near over them, and its fruit will be made to hang low in lowliness." He desires food, so a white bird comes to him—he said: 'And perhaps he said: green'—and it raises its wings, so he eats from its sides whatever colors he wishes, then it flies and goes away. Then the angel enters and says: "Peace be upon you; that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do."

When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, and the people of the Fire enter the Fire, and they enter their stations, Paradise is raised up for the people of the Fire, and they look at their stations in it. It is said to them: 'These were your stations had you acted in obedience to Allah.' Then it is said: 'O people of Paradise, you are made to inherit it for what you used to do.'

8480 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father told me, my uncle told me, from his father, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas: Regarding his saying: "And the companions of Paradise will call out to the companions of the Fire, 'We have found what our Lord promised us to be true; so have you found what your Lord promised to be true?'" And that is because Allah promised the people of the Fire every
