8519 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me in what my father wrote, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying, regarding His saying: "And when their eyes are turned towards the companions of the Fire," and they saw their faces blackened and their eyes blue: They said, "Our Lord, do not place us with the wrongdoing people."

His saying, the Almighty: "Our Lord, do not place us with the wrongdoing people."

8521 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed me in what he wrote to me, my father told me, my uncle told me, from his father, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas: He said: So Allah placed them in that position so that they might recognize who is in Paradise and who is in the Fire, so that they may recognize the people of the Fire by the blackness of their faces and seek refuge with Allah that He might place them with the wrongdoing people.
