His saying, the Almighty: "And the companions of the Heights will call to men they recognize by their mark."

8522 - And through this [chain] from Ibn 'Abbas: Regarding His saying: "And the companions of the Heights will call to men they recognize by their mark," he said: They will call to men in the Fire whom they recognize by their mark.

His saying, the Almighty: "They will say, 'Your gathering did not avail you, nor [did] that you used to wax proud.'"

8523 - And through this [chain] from Ibn 'Abbas: "They will say, 'Your gathering did not avail you'"—your numbers, "nor [did] that you used to wax proud."

8524 - My father told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Marwan Abu Shaykh al-Harrani told us, Zuhayr ibn Mu'awiyah Abu Khaythamah told us, Sulayman al-Taymi told us, from Abu Mijlaz, regarding: "'Your gathering did not avail you, nor [did] that you used to wax proud,'" he said: This is when the people of Paradise have entered Paradise.

8525 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed me in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi: He said: Then some of the tyrants passed by them, and they recognized them by their mark. So the companions of the Heights called to them [and] said: "Your gathering did not avail you, nor [did] that you used to wax proud"—[meaning] these weak ones.

8526 - Musa ibn Harun al-Tusi informed me in what he wrote to me, al-Husayn ibn Muhammad al-Marwazi told us, Shayban told us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Your gathering did not avail you, nor [did] that you used to wax proud," he said: Allah stripped away their gathering, and their pride ended up in the Fire.

8527 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd saying, regarding His saying: "'Your gathering did not avail you, nor [did] that you used to wax proud,'" he said: Against the people of obedience to Allah, the Almighty.

His saying, the Almighty: "Are these the ones whom you swore would not be reached by Allah with mercy?"

8528 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed me in what he wrote to me, my father told me, my uncle told me, from his father, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas: Regarding His saying: "Are these the ones whom you swore would not be reached by Allah with mercy?" He means the companions of the Heights.
