The second interpretation:
10002 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Sharik, from Jabir, from Mujahid, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding “And they planned that which they could not attain,” he said: A man called al-Aswad planned to kill Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The third interpretation:
10003 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: “The word of disbelief.” One of them said: “If what Muhammad says is true, then we are worse than donkeys.” A man from the believers said to him: “By Allah, he only speaks the truth, and you are indeed worse than a donkey.” So the hypocrite planned to kill him, and that is their planning for that which they could not attain.
The fourth interpretation:
10004 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Ibrahim al-Wasiti narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Yazid narrated to us, from Isma'il, from al-Suddi regarding “And they planned that which they could not attain,” he said: They wanted to crown 'Abd Allah ibn Ubayy, and they said: “Even if Muhammad (peace be upon him) is not pleased.”
His saying, the Almighty: “And they did not resent except that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them from His bounty.”

10005 - Ahmad ibn al-Hasan al-Baghdadi narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muslim al-Ta'ifi narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Dinar, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: That the Prophet (peace be upon him) set the blood money (diyah) at twelve thousand, and that is His saying: “And they did not resent except that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them from His bounty.” He said: By their receiving the blood money.
10400 - (*) My father narrated to us, Yasarar ibn Safwan narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muslim al-Ta'ifi narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Dinar, he said: I heard 'Ikrimah saying: A man from Banu 'Adi ibn Ka'b killed a man from the Ansar, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) decreed his blood money to be twelve thousand dirhams. He said: So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: “And they did not resent except that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them from His bounty,” meaning: what they took of the blood money.

١٠٠٠٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ شَرِيكٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَهَمُّوا بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُوا قَالَ: هَمَّ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ: الأَسْوَدُ بِقَتْلِ مُحَمَّدٍ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ-.

١٠٠٠٣ - بدالر حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، «١»
قَوْلُهُ: كَلِمَةَ الْكُفْرِ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمْ: لَئِنْ كَانَ مَا يَقُولُ مُحَمَّدٌ حَقًّا لَنَحْنُ أَشَرُّ مِنَ الْحَمِيرِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رجل من المؤمنين: فو الله إِنَّمَا يَقُولُ الْحَقَّ، وَلأَنْتَ أَشَرُّ مِنْ حِمَارٍ، فَهَمَّ بِقَتْلِهِ الْمُنَافِقُ، فَذَلِكَ هَمُّهُمْ بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُوا.
وَالْوَجْهُ الرَّابِعُ:
١٠٠٠٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ وَهَمُّوا بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُوا قَالَ: أَرَادُوا أَنْ يُتَوِّجُوا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أُبَيٍّ، قَالُوا: وَإِنْ لَمْ يَرْضَ مُحَمَّدٌ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ-.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا نَقَمُوا إِلا أَنْ أَغْنَاهُمُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ

١٠٠٠٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ الطَّائِفِيُّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أَنّ النَّبِيَّ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- جَعَلَ الدِّيَةَ اثْنَى عَشَرَ أَلْفًا وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ: وَمَا نَقَمُوا إِلا أَنْ أَغْنَاهُمُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ قَالَ: بِأَخْذِهِمُ الدِّيَةَ.
١٠٤٠٠ - (*) حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا يَسَرَةُ بْنُ صَفْوَانَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عِكْرِمَةَ يَقُولُ: قَتَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي عَدِيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ رَجُلا مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ، فَقَضَى النَّبِيُّ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- فِي دِيَّتِهِ بِاثْنَيْ عَشَرَ أَلْفَ دِرْهَمٍ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ اللَّهُ- عَزَّ وَجَلَّ- وَمَا نَقَمُوا إِلا أَنْ أَغْنَاهُمُ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ يَعْنِي: مَا أخذوا من الدية.
