Translation · EN

10209 - My father narrated to us, Sulayman ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Shurahbil al-Dimashqi narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us from al-Awza'i: The people went out for the prayer for rain (istisqa'), then Bilal ibn Sa'd stood among them, praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "O assembly of those present, are you not acknowledging your shortcomings?" They said: "O Allah, yes." He said: "O Allah, we hear You saying: 'There is no cause for blame against the doers of good,' and we have acknowledged our shortcomings, so forgive us, have mercy on us, and grant us rain." He raised his hands and they raised their hands, and they were granted rain.

His saying the Exalted: "And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."

10200 - (*) Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' narrated to us from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "And Allah is Forgiving" of what was from them regarding shirk (polytheism), "Merciful" to them after the repentance.

His saying the Exalted: "Nor [is there blame] on those who, when they came to you for you to provide them with mounts."

10201 - Muhammad ibn 'Awf al-Homsi narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Asad al-Khasha narrated to us, al-Walid ibn Muslim narrated to us from Thawr ibn Yazid, from Khalid ibn Ma'dan, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Amr al-Sulami and Hujr ibn Hujr al-Kala'i narrated to us: They said: We entered upon 'Irbad ibn Sariyah al-Sulami, and Muhammad ibn 'Awf narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Asad narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn al-'Ala' narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abi al-Muta' narrated to us, 'Irbad narrated to us, and he is the one concerning whom it was revealed: "Nor [is there blame] on those who, when they came to you for you to provide them with mounts, you said, 'I can find nothing to provide you with,' they turned back, while their eyes overflowed with tears out of grief that they could not find anything to spend." So we greeted him and said: "We have come to you as visitors, returners, and seekers of knowledge."

10202 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar and Kathir ibn Shihab narrated to us, they said: Muhammad ibn Sa'id ibn Sabiq narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us from al-Rabi' ibn Anas, from Abu al-'Aliyah, from 'Abd Allah ibn Mughaffal, and he was one of those who were mentioned in this verse: "Nor [is there blame] on those who, when they came to you for you to provide them with mounts, you said, 'I can find nothing to provide you with,'" the verse.

10203 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Nor [is there blame] on those who, when they came to you," they are the Banu Muqarrin from Muzaynah.

10204 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Khalid ibn 'Athmah narrated to us, Kathir ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr al-Muzani narrated to us, and when he would narrate, he would say: "My father, by Allah"—meaning his grandfather 'Amr—"one of the group who..."

١٠٢٠٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ: خَرَجَ النَّاسُ إِلَى الاسْتِسْقَاءِ، فَقَامَ فِيهِنَّ بِلالُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا مَعْشَرُ مَنْ حَضَرَ، أَلَسْتُمْ مُقِرِّينَ بِالإِسَاءَةِ؟ قَالُوا: اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ، قَالَ:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْمَعُكَ تَقُولُ: مَا عَلَى الْمُحْسِنِينَ مِنْ سَبِيلٍ وَقَدْ أَقْرَرْنَا بِالإِسَاءَةِ فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا، وَاسْقِنَا، وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَرَفَعُوا أَيْدِيَهُمْ، فَسُقُوا.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ.

١٠٢٠٠ - (*) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ثنا عَطَاءٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ لِمَا كَانَ مِنْهُمْ فِي الشِّرْكِ رَحِيمٌ بِهِمْ بَعْدَ التَّوْبَةِ.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا عَلَى الَّذِينَ إِذَا مَا أَتَوْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ.

١٠٢٠١ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَوْفٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَسَدِ الْخَشَى ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو السُّلَمِيُّ وَحُجْرُ بْنُ حُجْرٍ الْكَلاعِيُّ قَالا: دَخَلْنَا عَلَى عِرْبَاضِ بْنِ سَارِيَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ، وَثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَوْفٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي الْمُطَاعِ ثنا عرياض، وَهُوَ الَّذِي نَزَلَ فِيهِ: وَلا عَلَى الَّذِينَ إِذَا مَا أَتَوْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ قُلْتَ لَا أَجِدُ مَا أَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ تَوَلَّوْا وَأَعْيُنُهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ الدَّمْعِ حَزَنًا فَسَلَّمْنَا وَقُلْنَا: إِنَّا جِئْنَاكَ زَائِرِينَ وَعَائِدِينَ وَمُقْتَبِسِينَ.

١٠٢٠٢ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ وَكَثِيرُ بْنُ شِهَابٍ قَالا: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَابِقٍ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ وَكَانَ أَحَدَ هَؤُلاءِ الَّذِينَ ذُكِرُوا فِي هَذِهِ الآيَةِ: وَلا عَلَى الَّذِينَ إِذَا مَا أَتَوْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ قُلْتَ لَا أَجِدُ مَا أَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ الآيَةَ.

١٠٢٠٣ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَوْلُهُ: وَلا عَلَى الَّذِينَ إِذَا مَا أَتَوْكَ هُمْ بَنُو مُقَرِّنٍ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ.

١٠٢٠٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَثْمَةَ ثنا كَثِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْمُزَنِيُّ وَكَانَ إِذَا حَدَّثَ قَالَ: أَبِي وَاللَّهِ، يَعْنِي جَدَّهُ عَمْرًا- أَحَدَ النَّفْرِ الَّذِينَ
