His saying the Exalted: "They will swear to you that you might be pleased with them."

10208 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us from Ibn Abi Najih from Mujahid, regarding his saying: "They will swear to you that you might be pleased [with them]" until his saying: "the defiantly disobedient (al-fasiqin)," he said: Concerning the hypocrites.

His saying the Exalted: "The bedouins are stronger in disbelief and hypocrisy."

10209 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Ya'la and Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us from al-A'mash from Ibrahim, he said: Zayd ibn Suhan was speaking when a bedouin said: "Your speech pleases me, but your hand reveals me." He said: "Do you not see it is the left?" The bedouin said: "By Allah, I do not know; do they cut off the right or the left?" Zayd said: "Allah has spoken the truth: 'The bedouins are stronger in disbelief and hypocrisy and more likely not to know the limits of what Allah has revealed to His Messenger.'"

10200 - (*) al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Hajjaj ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj and 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' narrated to us from 'Ata' al-Khurasani from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying: "The bedouins are stronger in disbelief and hypocrisy" until his saying: "And Allah is Knowing, Wise." Then He made an exception for them and said: "But among the bedouins are some who believe in Allah and the Last Day and take what they spend as means of nearness to Allah" until his saying: "Forgiving and Merciful."

His saying the Exalted: "And more likely not to know the limits of what Allah has revealed," the verse.

10201 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us from Sa'id from Qatadah regarding his saying: "And more likely not to know the limits of what Allah has revealed to His Messenger," he said: They are the least knowledgeable about the Sunnahs.

His saying the Exalted: "And among the bedouins are those who take what they spend as a loss (maghraman)."

10202 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah: "And among the bedouins are those who take what they spend as a loss and await for you misfortunes," he said: These are the hypocrites among the bedouins, who only spend out of hypocrisy and caution, so that they may [avoid] raiding, warring, and fighting, and they view their expenditures as a loss. Do you not see that He says: "And await for you misfortunes; upon them will be a misfortune of evil"?
