10061 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us from Ibn Abi Najih from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And those who took a mosque for harm": They are the hypocrites.

10062 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Thawr narrated to us from Ma'mar from Ayyub from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "And those who took a mosque for harm and disbelief," he said: They are a tribe called Banu Ghanam.

10063 - 'Abdullah ibn Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, al-Muharibi narrated to us from Juwaybir from al-Dahhak regarding: "And those who took a mosque for harm and disbelief," he said: They are people from the Ansar who built a mosque near the Mosque of Quba, and it has reached us that the Mosque of Quba was the first mosque built in Islam.

10064 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah narrated to us from Qatadah regarding His saying: "They took a mosque for harm," that the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) built a mosque at Quba, so the hypocrites opposed it with another. Then they sent to the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) so that he would pray in it, and he called for his garment to go to them, but Allah informed His Prophet of that.

10065 - 'Abdullah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us from Asbat from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "And those who took a mosque for harm and disbelief." As for "harm," they harmed the people of Quba with the mosque which the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) had built for them.

10066 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me from his father from his grandfather from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And those who took a mosque for harm and disbelief," he said: When the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) built the Mosque of Quba, men from the Ansar went out, among them Bahzaj—the grandfather of 'Abdullah ibn Hunayf—Wadi'ah ibn Khidham, and Mujammi' ibn Jariyah al-Ansari, and they built the Mosque of Hypocrisy. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to Bahzaj: "Woe to you, O Bahzaj! What did you intend by what I see?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I intended nothing but the good," and he was a liar. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) accepted his word and wanted to excuse him, so Allah revealed: "And those who took a mosque for harm and disbelief."

10067 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, who said: Muhammad said: What was revealed in the Qur'an regarding them was revealed: "And those who took a mosque for harm and disbelief." And those who built it were...
