and Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, Mujahid, Abu al-Hasan, Abu 'Iyad, 'Ata', al-Dahhak, Qatadah, and al-Rabi' ibn Anas, that they said: "The observers of fast."

10029 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Sinan Dirar ibn Murrah, from 'Abd Allah ibn Abi al-Hudhayl, from Abu 'Amr al-'Abdi, who said: "The travelers," meaning: The observers of fast who are constant in fasting.

10030 - al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Yahya al-Taymi narrated to us, from Abu Sinan, from ibn Abi al-Hudhayl, who said: I heard someone asking Abu 'Amr al-'Abdi about "the travelers," and he said: Those from the believers and the monks who are constant in fasting.

The third interpretation:

10031 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, al-Mu'tamir ibn Sulayman narrated to us, who said: I heard Ishaq ibn Suwayd saying: Abu Fakhitah, the freed slave of Ja'dah ibn Hubayrah, narrated to us that 'Uthman ibn Maz'un wanted to see if he could endure travel (siyahah). He said: They used to consider travel to be standing in prayer at night and fasting during the day. Ishaq said: I encountered Yahya ibn 'Umar ibn Khurasani, and he was narrating this hadith to the people, not omitting a single letter of it.

The fourth interpretation:

10032 - My father mentioned it from Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Himyari, from al-Walid ibn Bukayr, from 'Umar ibn Nafi', who said: I heard 'Ikrimah, when he was asked about His saying, "The travelers," and he said: The seekers of knowledge.

The fifth interpretation:

10033 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed us, who said: I heard Ibn Zayd ibn Aslam—meaning 'Abd al-Rahman—saying regarding the saying of Allah, "The travelers," he said: They are the emigrants (Muhajirun); there is no traveling (siyahah) in the nation of Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—except for migration (hijrah), and their traveling was the migration when they migrated to Medina; there is no monasticism in the nation of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

His saying, the Almighty: "The bowers."

10034 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bakri narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn
