a man, from al-Husayn: that he was asked about this verse: "And the restrainers of evil," he said: They did not restrain people from evil until they themselves desisted from it.
His saying, the Almighty: "And those who guard the boundaries of Allah."
[The first interpretation]
10042 - And with the same chain, from al-Hasan: that he was asked about this verse: "And those who guard the boundaries of Allah," he said: Those who uphold the command of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
The second interpretation:
10043 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, Sa'id informed us, from Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah, from Qatadah: "Those who guard the boundaries of Allah" [means] for His obligatory duties, regarding His lawful and His prohibited matters. Then he said: "And give glad tidings to the believers."
The third interpretation:
10044 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim informed us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And those who guard the boundaries of Allah," meaning: Those who observe the condition of Allah in Jihad, for whoever fulfills this condition, Allah will fulfill the Paradise for him.
His saying, the Almighty: "And give glad tidings to the believers."

10045 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "And give glad tidings to the believers," meaning: Those who are steadfast in the obedience of Allah; and it is a condition He stipulated upon the people of Jihad, that if they fulfill His condition, He will fulfill for them His condition.
The second interpretation:
10046 - My father narrated to us, al-Musayyab ibn Wadih narrated to us, Abu Ishaq al-Fazari narrated to us, from Abu Raja', from Suhayl, from Kathir, from al-Hasan: "And give glad tidings to the believers"... and give glad tidings to those who have not faltered among the poor.

10047 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, [narrating from]...

١٠٠٤٣ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ثنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، أَنْبَأَ سَعِيدٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ الحافظون لِحُدُودِ اللَّهِ لِفُرَائِضِهِ مِنْ حَلالِهِ وَحَرَامِهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ:
وَبَشِّرِ المؤمنين.
الْوَجْهُ الثَّالِثُ:
١٠٠٤٤ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُزَاحِمٍ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلُهُ: وَالْحَافِظُونَ لِحُدُودِ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي:
الْحَافِظِينَ لِشَرْطِ اللَّهِ فِي الْجِهَادِ فَمَنْ وَفَّى بِهَذَا الشَّرْطِ، وَفَّى اللَّهُ لَهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ.
قَوْلُهُ تعالى: وبشر المؤمنين.

١٠٠٤٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَعْنِي: الْقَائِمِينَ عَلَى طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ شَرْطٌ اشْتَرَطَهُ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْجِهَادِ إِذَا وَفَوْا اللَّهَ شَرَطَهُ، وَفِيَ لَهُمْ بِشَرْطِهِ.

١٠٠٤٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا الْمُسَيَّبُ بْنُ وَاضِحٍ ثنا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ بِالْغَزَارِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ عَنْ كَثِيرٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ وبشر المؤمنين وبشر الذين لم يهز مِنَ الْفُقَرَاءِ «١» .
