10137 - My father told us, Abu al-Rabi' al-Zahrani told us, Ya'qub ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ash'ari told us, my brother 'Imran ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ash'ari told us, he said: I asked Ja'far ibn Muhammad, saying: [What is your opinion] on fighting the Daylam?
He said: Fight them and maintain vigilance (rabituhum) against them, for they are among those whom Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, said: "Fight those of the disbelievers who are close to you."
The Second View:
10138 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan told us, Abu al-Jumahir told us, Sa'id ibn Bashir told us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "O you who have believed, fight those of the disbelievers who are close to you," he intends the polytheists who are around Medina. He [Allah] loved for every people to fight those who are close to them, except that he said: In a place where there is fear for the Muslims.
10139 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah, the Exalted and Majestic: "Fight those of the disbelievers who are close to you," he said: Those who were close to him from the disbelievers were the Arabs, so he fought them until he finished with them.
His saying, the Almighty: "And let them find harshness in you."
10140 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn Abbas, regarding His saying: "And let them find harshness in you," he said: Severity.
His saying, the Almighty: "And when a Surah is revealed, among them are those who say: 'Which of you has this increased in faith?'"
10141 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn Abbas: "So it increased them in faith," he says: In verification.
10142 - My father told us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far told us, from his father, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas, regarding His saying: "So it increased them in faith," he says: It increased them in awe.
10143 - My father told us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa told us, Sufyan informed us, from one who heard Mujahid saying: Regarding His saying: "So it increased them in faith," he said: Faith increases and decreases.
