The Third View:

10151 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan told us, Abu al-Jumahir told us, Sa'id ibn Bashir told us, from Qatadah regarding: "Do they not see that they are tried every year once or twice?" He said: They are tested by fighting in the cause of Allah that they follow, yet they do not repent nor do they remember.

The Fourth View:

10152 - My father told us, 'Ali ibn Muhammad al-Tanafisi told us, Waki' told us, from Sharik, from Jabir, from Abu al-Duha, from Hudhayfah regarding: "Do they not see that they are tried every year once or twice?" He said: They had in every year a lie or two.

The Fifth View:

10153 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd regarding the saying of Allah: "In every year once or twice," he said: "They are tried": [with] misguidance and disbelief.

His saying, the Almighty: "Then they do not repent, nor do they remember."

10154 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard Ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah: "Nor do they remember," he said: The people of the Dhikr (remembrance) are the people of the Qur'an, and the Qur'an is the Dhikr.

His saying, the Almighty: "And whenever a Surah is revealed, they look at one another: 'Does anyone see you?'"

10155 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed us in what he wrote to me, my father told us, my uncle told us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "And whenever a Surah is revealed, they look at one another: 'Does anyone see you?'" He said: They are the hypocrites.

10156 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "And whenever a Surah is revealed, they look at one another: 'Does anyone see you?'" [meaning]: Of those who heard your news, has anyone seen you whom he could inform? Whenever something is revealed.
