10170 - Ali ibn al-Hasan told us, Abu al-Jumahir told us, Sa'id ibn Bashir informed us, from Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah regarding "To the believers [he is] kind and merciful": He said: Ra'uf (kind) means tender-hearted.
His saying, the Almighty: "If they turn away, say: Allah is sufficient for me."
10171 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "If they turn away, say: Allah is sufficient for me," meaning: the disbelievers turned away from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and this is regarding the believers.
His saying, the Almighty: "There is no deity but He."
10172 - My father told us, Yahya ibn al-Mughirah told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far told us, from his father, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, that they gathered the Qur'an. When they reached this verse, they turned away, and Allah turned their hearts, and they assumed it was the last of what was revealed of the Qur'an. Ubayy ibn Ka'b said to them: "The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited to me after this two verses: 'There has come to you a messenger from among yourselves' up to his saying: 'There is no deity but He, upon Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.'" He said: "So this is the last of what was revealed of the Qur'an, and the affair was sealed with that with which it began: 'There is no deity but Allah'." Allah (the Almighty and Majestic) says: "And We did not send before you any messenger except that We revealed to him that there is no deity except Me, so worship Me."
10173 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr told us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas: "There is no deity but Allah," he said: It is Monotheism (Tawhid).
10174 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah told us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "There is no deity but Allah," meaning there is no partner with Him in His affair.
His saying, the Almighty: "Upon Him I have relied."
10175 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas told us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Junayj told us, Salamah told us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "And upon Allah—not upon the people—let the believers rely."
His saying, the Almighty: "And He is the Lord of the Great Throne."
10176 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab told us, Bishr informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: The Throne ('Arsh) was only called 'Arsh because of its elevation.
١٠١٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ أَنْبَأَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عروبة بالمؤمنين رؤف رحيم قال: رؤف: رَقِيقٌ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِي اللَّهَ.
١٠١٧١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ ابْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقُلْ حَسْبِي اللَّهُ يَعْنِي: الْكُفَّارَ، تَوَلَّوْا عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَهَذِهِ فِي الْمُؤْمِنِينَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: لا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ.
١٠١٧٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ أَنَّهُمْ جَمَعُوا الْقُرْآنَ، فَلَمَّا انْتَهَوْا إِلَى هَذِهِ الآيَةِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفُوا صَرْفَ اللَّهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ فَظُنُّوا آخِرَ مَا نَزَلَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْرَأَنِي بَعْدَ هَذَا آيَتَيْنِ لَقَدْ جَاءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ قَالَ: فَهَذَا آخِرُ مَا نَزَلَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ فَخُتِمَ الأَمْرُ بِمَا فَتَحَ بِهِ، بِلا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ:
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلا نُوحِي إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلا أَنَا فَاعَبُدُونِ.
١٠١٧٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ثنا بِشْرٌ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ قَالَ: تَوْحِيدٌ.
١٠١٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ أَيْ لَيْسَ مَعَهُ غَيْرُهُ شَرِيكًا فِي أَمْرِهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ.
١٠١٧٥ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو زُنَيْجٌ ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: وَعَلَى اللَّهِ لَا عَلَى النَّاسِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ.
١٠١٧٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابٌ، أَنْبَأَ بِشْرٌ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَ الْعَرْشُ عَرْشًا لارْتِفَاعُهُ.
