Volume 6 · Page 186His saying (the Almighty): 'Exalted are You, O Allah'

Translation · EN

Ibn Anas, who said: "When the people of Paradise desire something, they say: 'Exalted are You, O Allah, and with Your praise,' and it is immediately before them. That is the meaning of His saying: 'Their call therein: Exalted are You, O Allah.'"

10241 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq told us, Sa'id ibn Abi 'Aruba told us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Their call therein: Exalted are You, O Allah," he says: That is their statement therein, and their greeting therein is 'Peace.'

10242 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la told us, Mu'tamir ibn Sulayman told us, he said: I heard Shabib ibn 'Abd al-Malik narrating that Muqatil ibn Hayyan said: "When the people of Paradise call for food, they say: 'Exalted are You, O Allah.'" He said: "Then ten thousand servants stand before one of them, and with every servant is a golden platter, containing food that is not in the other." He said: "He then eats from them as he pleases."

10243 - My father told us, Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim al-Rawzaqi told us, al-Ashja'i told us, from Sufyan, regarding the saying of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic: "Their call therein: Exalted are You, O Allah," he said: "When a man from the people of Paradise desires to call [for something], he says: 'Exalted are You, O Allah,' and that which he called for comes to him."

His saying, the Exalted: "Exalted are You, O Allah"

[The first interpretation]

10244 - Abu Sa'id ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan told us, Zayd ibn al-Hubab told us, Abu al-Ash'ath told us, from al-Hasan, he said: "'Exalted is Allah' (Subhan Allah) is a name that people are unable to usurp."

The second interpretation:

10245 - My father told us, Ibn Nufayl told us, al-Nadr ibn 'Arabi told us, he said: A man asked Maymun ibn 'Uthman about 'Exalted is Allah,' and he said: "It is a name by which Allah is glorified, and by which He saved us from evil."

His saying, the Exalted: "And their greeting therein is 'Peace'"

10246 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Muhammad ibn Sa'id al-Khuzami told us, Muhammad ibn Marwan al-'Uqayli told us, from al-Fadl al-Raqashi, then he said: "Their greeting therein is 'Peace,' and the last of their call is: 'Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.'" He said: "He manifests Himself to them, so they fall down prostrating before Him, and they say: 'Exalted are You, O Allah,' and their greeting [to Him] is with 'Peace,' and when He turns away from them, they say: 'Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.'"
