[His saying, the Exalted: "And the last of their call"]

[The first interpretation]

10247 - It was mentioned from Ibn Abi 'Umar, Sufyan told us, from Abu Sinan, from Ibn Abi al-Mudhayyal, he said: "Praise be to Allah" is its beginning and its end. Then Sufyan recited: "And the last of their call: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds."

10248 - My father told us, Abu Ma'mar al-Muqri told us, 'Abd al-Warith told us, 'Ali ibn Zayd ibn Jud'an told us, from Yusuf ibn Mihran, he said: Ibn 'Abbas said: "Praise be to Allah" is the word of gratitude; so when the servant says: "Praise be to Allah," He says: "My servant has thanked Me."

The second interpretation:

10249 - My father told us, Musa ibn Isma'il told us, Wuhayb told us, Suhayl ibn Abi Salih told us, from his father, from al-Saluli, from Ka'b, he said: "Praise be to Allah" is the praise of Allah.

The third interpretation:

10250 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-'Arzami told us, Bazi' Abu Hazim told us, from Yahya ibn 'Abd al-Rahman—meaning Abu Bastam—from al-Dahhak, he said: "Praise" is the mantle of the Most Merciful.

The fourth interpretation:

10251 - My father told us, Abu Ma'mar al-Qati'i told us, Hafs told us, from Hajjaj, from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: 'Umar said: "We have known 'Exalted is Allah' and 'Praise be to Allah'." 'Ali said: "A word Allah has pleased for Himself." Abu Muhammad said: Abu Ma'mar al-Qati'i narrated it from Hafs, and al-Ashajj narrated it, and Hafs differed in it, as he said in it: 'Umar said to 'Ali while his companions were with him: "There is no god but Allah, and Praise be to Allah, and Allah is Greatest—we have known them, so what is 'Exalted is Allah'?" 'Ali said: "A word Allah has loved for Himself, and chosen for Himself, and loved that it be said."

His saying, the Exalted: "Lord of the worlds"

[The first interpretation]

10252 - My father told us, Hisham told us, Khalid ibn al-Walid ibn Muslim told us, al-Furat ibn al-Walid told us, from Mughith ibn Shams, from Tabi', regarding His saying, the Almighty and Majestic: "Lord of the worlds," he said: "The worlds are one thousand nations: six hundred in the sea and four hundred on land."

10253 - 'Ali ibn Harb al-Mawsili told us, Zayd ibn al-Hubab told us, from Husayn ibn Waqid, from Matar al-Warraq, from Qatadah, regarding the saying of Allah: "Lord of the worlds," he said: "That which He has described of His creation."
