His saying, the Exalted: "And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us on his side"
10261 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la told us, Muhammad ibn Thawr told us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah, who said: "When affliction touches them: they dedicate their supplication to Allah alone."
His saying, the Exalted: "Then, when We have removed his affliction from him, he passes on as if he had not called upon Us to an affliction that touched him," up to His saying: "Likewise it is made fair-seeming to the transgressors."

10262 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad told us, Musa ibn Muslim told us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi told us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur told us, who said: "I asked al-Hasan about His saying: 'It is made fair-seeming' [he replied]: The Shaytan made it fair-seeming to them."
His saying, the Exalted: "And We have already destroyed the generations before you when they did wrong"
10263 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la informed us by way of reading, Ibn Wahb informed us, Ibn Zayd (meaning 'Abd al-Rahman) told us, who said: "The people of Nuh (Noah) were not punished until there was no plain or mountain left on earth but that it had an inhabitant inhabiting it and a possessor possessing it."
10264 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la informed us by way of reading, Ibn Wahb informed us, Malik ibn Anas told me, from Zayd ibn Aslam, that the people of the plains and the people of the mountains were crowded [in the time of Nuh], such that the people of the plains could not ascend to the mountains, nor could the people of the mountains descend to the people of the plains in the time of Nuh. He said: "They were densely packed."
His saying, the Exalted: "And their messengers came to them with clear proofs"
10265 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl ibn Musa, Muhammad ibn 'Ali told us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim told us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf told us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "With clear proofs" [meaning]: With clear proofs, which is that which Allah sent down of the lawful and the unlawful.

10266 - Abu Bakr ibn Musa told us, Harun ibn Hatim told us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik, regarding His saying: "Likewise," [meaning]: Thus it is."

١٠٢٦٢ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْحَنَفِيُّ ثنا عَبَّادُ ابْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ الْحَسَنَ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ: زُيِّنَ قَالَ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَقَدْ أَهْلَكْنَا الْقُرُونَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ لَمَّا ظَلَمُوا
١٠٢٦٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى قِرَاءَةً أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ وهيب، ثنا ابْنُ زَيْدٍ يَعْنِي عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ مَا عُذِّبَ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ حَتَّى مَا كَانَ فِي الأَرْضِ سَهْلٌ وَلا جَبَلٌ إِلا وَلَهُ عامر يعمره وحائز يَحُوزُهُ.
١٠٢٦٤ - أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى قِرَاءَةً أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ أَنَّ أَهْلَ السَّهْلِ كَانَ قَدْ ضَاقَ بِهِمْ وَأَهْلَ الْجَبَلِ حَتَّى ما يقدروا أَهْلُ السَّهْلِ أَنْ يَرْتَقُوا إِلَى الْجَبَلِ وَلا أَهْلَ الْجَبَلِ أَنْ يَنْزِلُوا إِلَى أَهْلِ السَّهْلِ فِي زَمَانِ نُوحٍ قَالَ حُشُوا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَجَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ
١٠٢٦٥ - قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ مُوسَى، ثنا محمد بن علي ثنا محمد ابن مُزَاحِمٍ، ثنا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ، عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ قَوْلُهُ: بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ يَعْنِي:
بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْحَلالِ وَالْحَرَامِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا كَانُوا لِيُؤْمِنُوا كَذَلِكَ
١٠٢٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي حَمَّادٍ ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ، قَوْلُهُ: كَذَلِكَ يعني: هكذا.
