The third interpretation:
10339 - My father told us, Yahya ibn al-Mughirah told us, Jarir reported to us, from Layth, from Ibn Sabit, regarding His saying: "For those who have done good [is] the best," he said: "The best is the radiance (al-nadrah)."
His saying, the Exalted: "And an increase (ziyadah)"
[The first interpretation]
10340 - al-Hasan ibn 'Arafah al-'Abdi told us, Yazid ibn Marwan told us, Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Thabit al-Bunani, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When the people of Paradise enter Paradise, it will be proclaimed: 'O people of Paradise, indeed you have a promise from Allah which you have not yet seen.'" He said: "They will say: 'What is it? Has He not whitened our faces, removed us from the Fire, and admitted us into Paradise?'" He said: "Then the veil will be removed and they will look upon Him, Blessed and Exalted. By Allah, He has not given them anything more beloved to them than that." Then he recited: "For those who have done good [is] the best and an increase."
10341 - My father told us, Muslim ibn Ibrahim told us, Abu Bakr al-Hudhali told us, Abu Tamimah told us, he said: I heard Abu Musa al-Ash'ari delivering a sermon, and he recited this verse: "For those who have done good [is] the best and an increase." He said: "The best is Paradise, and the increase is the viewing [of Him]. And when they are entered into Paradise and look at what is lacking, they will ask Allah for the increase, and He will say: 'You have with Me the increase: the viewing of My Face.'"
Abu Muhammad [Ibn Abi Hatim] said: It was narrated from Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman, Ibn 'Abbas, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Sabit, 'Ikrimah, 'Amir ibn Sa'id, al-Hasan, Mujahid, Qatadah, Abu Ishaq, al-Dahhak, Abu Sinan, and al-Suddi: That the increase is the viewing of the Face of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
The second interpretation:
10342 - Kathir ibn Shihab told us, Muhammad ibn Sa'id ibn Sabiq told us, 'Umar ibn Abi Qays told us, from Mansur, from al-Hakam, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, regarding the saying of Allah: "For those who have done good [is] the best and an increase," he said: "The increase is a chamber of pearl that has four doors."
The third interpretation:
10343 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "For those who have done good [is] the best," he said: "The best is the like thereof, and the increase is forgiveness and good pleasure."

١٠٣٣٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ أَنْبَأَ جَرِيرٌ عَنْ لَيْثٍ عَنِ ابْنِ سَابِطٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ: لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَى قَالَ: الْحُسْنَى: النَّضْرَةُ.

١٠٣٤٠ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ الْعَبْدِيُّ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتِ الْبُنَانِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنِ صُهَيْبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا دَخَلَ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ الْجَنَّةَ نُودُوا يَا أَهْلَ الْجَنَّةِ إِنَّ لَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مَوْعُودًا لَمْ تَرَوْهُ قَالَ: فَيَقُولُونَ: وَمَا هُوَ؟ أَلَمْ يُبَيِّضْ وُجُوهَنَا، وَيُزَحْزِحْنَا عَنِ النَّارِ وَيُدْخِلْنَا الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ: فَيُكْشَفُ الْحِجَابُ فَيَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهِ تَبَارَكَ وتعالى فو الله مَا أَعْطَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَيْئًا هُوَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِمْ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَى وَزِيَادَةٌ
١٠٣٤١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو تَمِيمَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مُوسَى الأَشْعَرِيُّ يَخْطُبُ فَتَلا هَذِهِ الآيَةَ: لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَى وَزِيَادَةٌ قَالَ الْحُسْنَى الْجَنَّةُ وَالزِّيَادَةُ النَّظَرُ وَإِذَا أُدْخِلُوا الْجَنَّةَ فَنَظَرُوا إِلَى الْخَلَلِ فَسَأَلُوا اللَّهَ الزِّيَادَةَ فَيَقُولُ: لَكُمْ عِنْدِي الزِّيَادَةُ النَّظَرُ إِلَى وَجْهِي
، قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ وَرُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَحُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَابِطٍ وَعِكْرِمَةَ وَعَامِرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ وَالْحَسَنِ وَمُجَاهِدٍ وَقَتَادَةَ وَأَبِي إِسْحَاقَ وَالضَّحَّاكِ وَأَبِي سِنَانٍ وَالسُّدِّيِّ: إِنَّ الزِّيَادَةَ النَّظَرُ إِلَى وَجْهِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.
الْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
١٠٣٤٢ - حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ شِهَابٍ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَابِقٍ، ثنا عمر بْنُ أَبِي قَيْسٍ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَى وَزِيَادَةٌ قَالَ: فَالزِّيَادَةُ غَرْفَةُ لُؤْلُؤٍ فِيهَا أَرْبَعَةُ أَبْوَابٍ.
الْوَجْهُ الثَّالِثُ:
١٠٣٤٣ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ: لِلَّذِينَ أَحْسَنُوا الْحُسْنَى قَالَ: الْحُسْنَى: مِثْلُهَا وَزِيَادَةٌ مَغْفِرَةٌ وَرِضْوَانٌ.
