His saying, the Exalted: "And no darkness (qatar) will cover their faces"

[The first interpretation]

10346 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Ibrahim ibn Sa'id al-Jawhari told us, Hajjaj told us, Ibn Jurayj told us, from 'Ata' al-Khurasani, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And no darkness will cover their faces," he said: "The blackening of the face." It was narrated from al-Suddi something similar to that.

The second interpretation:

10347 - My father, Umayyah ibn Bistam al-Azdi told us, Yazid ibn Zuray', from Rawh ibn al-Qasim, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "qatar," he said: "Disgrace (khizy)."

His saying, the Exalted: "And no humiliation (dhillah)"

10348 - My father told us, Ahmad ibn 'Abdah told us, Hammad ibn Zayd told us, Thabit told us, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, that he recited this verse: "And no darkness will cover their faces, nor humiliation," [saying that this is] after their looking at their Lord, Blessed and Exalted.

His saying, the Exalted: "Those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally."

10349 - Muhammad ibn Yahya Abu Ghassan told us, Salamah told us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad told me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr or 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally," meaning: whoever believed in what you disbelieved and acted according to what He revealed of His religion, then for them is Paradise, abiding therein eternally. He informs them that the reward for good and evil is established for its people forever, with no cessation for it.
