He said: "They are a people who loved one another through the spirit of Allah, without any kinship between them and without any wealth they exchange. By Allah, their faces are truly light, and they are upon light. They will not fear when people fear, and they will not grieve when people grieve. Unquestionably, for the allies of Allah, there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve."

10454 - My father told us, 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar ibn Muhammad ibn Aban told us, Yahya ibn Yaman told us, from Ibn Abi Layla, from al-Hakam, from Miqsam, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying: "Unquestionably, for the allies of Allah, there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve," he said: "Allah is remembered upon seeing them."

10455 - Kathir ibn Shihab al-Qazwini told us, Muhammad ibn Sa'id Sabiq told us, Ya'qub al-Ash'ari told us, from Ja'far, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, that a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, who are the allies of Allah?" He said: "Those who, when seen, Allah the Almighty is remembered." [1]

10456 - Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn 'Umar al-Wasiti told us, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan told me, Ahmad ibn Muhammad—he is Ibn Hanbal—told us, Ghawth ibn Jabir told us, he said: I heard Muhammad ibn Dawud, from his father, from Wahb, who said: The disciples said: "O 'Isa, who are the allies of Allah concerning whom there is no fear, nor will they grieve?" 'Isa, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Those who looked at the hidden essence of the world when people looked at its outward appearance, and those who looked at the afterlife of the world when people looked at its immediate term. They caused to die within it that which they feared would cause them to die, and they abandoned what they knew would eventually abandon them. Thus, their amassing of it became a scarcity, their mention of it became a loss, and their joy in what they attained of it became grief. Whatever of its gifts challenged them, they rejected, and whatever of its elevation challenged them without right, they put it down. The world became empty to them, so they did not renovate it; it was in ruins among them, so they did not inhabit it; and it died in their hearts, so they did not revive it. They demolish it and build their hereafter with it; they sell it and purchase with it what will remain for them. They rejected it and were joyful in their rejection of it; they sold it and were the gainers in its sale. They looked at its people as fallen, for whom calamities had become lawful, and they revived the remembrance of death and caused to die the remembrance of life. They love Allah the Almighty, they seek illumination by His light, and they are illuminated by it. They have a wondrous report, and with them is the wondrous reward. By them the Book was established, and by it they were established. By them the Book spoke, and by it they spoke. By them the Book was known, and by it they were known. They see no gain alongside what they have attained, no aspirations beneath what they hope for, and no fear beneath what they dread."
