Tafsir Ibn Abi Hatim
Volume 6 · Page 234His saying, the Exalted: 'And give good tidings to the believers'

Translation · EN

10535 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali told us, Abu Wahb Muhammad ibn Muzahim told us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "To the People of the Scripture, 'And establish prayer,'" He commanded them to pray with the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).

His saying, the Almighty: "And give glad tidings to the believers."

10536 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah told us, 'Ata' ibn Dinar told us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "And give glad tidings to the believers," he said: Give them glad tidings of victory in this world and Paradise in the Hereafter.

His saying, the Almighty: "And Moses said, 'Our Lord, indeed You have given Pharaoh and his establishment splendor and wealth in the worldly life.'"

10537 - Abu Zur'ah told us, 'Amr ibn Hammad told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi, who said: Moses, upon him be blessings and peace, departed with the Children of Israel at night while the Copts were aware, and they had invoked [God] against the Copts before that. So Moses said: "Our Lord, that they may lead others astray from Your way."

His saying, the Almighty: "'Our Lord, that they may lead others astray from Your way.'"

10538 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah told us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "From the way of Allah," he said: From the religion of Allah.

10539 - Abu Zur'ah told us, 'Umar ibn Hammad ibn Talhah told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi: "And Moses said, 'Our Lord, indeed You have given Pharaoh and his establishment splendor and wealth in the worldly life. Our Lord, that they may lead others astray from Your way...'" [up to] the verse. Allah said: "Your supplication has been answered." Then He said to them: "So remain on a right course." So they went out among their people, and death was cast upon the Copts, and every firstborn of their men died. They awoke burying them, and thus they were occupied from pursuing them until the sun rose.

His saying, the Almighty: "'Our Lord, obliterate their wealth.'"

[The First View]

10540 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed us in what he wrote to me, my father told me, my paternal uncle told me, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "Our Lord, obliterate their wealth," he says: Destroy them and cause their wealth to perish.
