10577 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah told me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar told us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "Our signs"—meaning: the Qur'an.

His saying, the Almighty: "And We had settled the Children of Israel in a secure settlement"

10578 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la told us, Muhammad ibn Thawr told us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah, regarding "a secure settlement"—he said: "Allah settled them in the Levant and Jerusalem."

10579 - My father told us, Sahl ibn 'Uthman told us, Marwan al-Fazari told us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, regarding His saying: "a secure settlement"—he said: "Secure dwellings, Egypt and the Levant."

10580 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding His saying: "And We had settled the Children of Israel in a secure settlement"—he said: "The Levant," and he recited: "The land which We have blessed for the worlds."

His saying, the Almighty: "And We provided them with good things"—the verse.

10581 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali told us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim told us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "The good things"—he said: "The good things are what was made lawful for them from everything that they might attain, and it is the lawful of the provision."

His saying, the Almighty: "So if you are in doubt, about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you."

10582 - My father told us, Abu Muhammad al-Yamani in Egypt (who was a neighbor, meaning Abu Salih) told us, al-Nadr ibn Muhammad al-Jurashi told us, 'Ikrimah ibn 'Ammar told us, Abu Zumayl Simak al-Hanafi told me, Ibn 'Abbas told us, and I said to him: "I find something within myself that I cannot speak of." He said: "Perhaps it is doubt, or something of doubt?" I said: "Yes." He said: "No one has been saved from this until the verse was revealed to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace): 'So if you are in doubt, about that which We have revealed to you, then ask those who have been reading the Scripture before you.'" Then he said: "If you find yourself in that state, say: 'He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden.'"
