His saying, the Almighty: "And if every sign came to them, until they see the painful punishment."

His saying, the Almighty: "Why was there not..."

10590 - Musa ibn Abi Musa told us, Harun ibn Hatim told us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad told us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik, regarding His saying: "Why was there not a town that believed and its belief benefited it?"—he says: "There was no town that believed and its belief benefited it."

10591 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Why was there not a town that believed"—he said: "No town believed."

10592 - My father told us, 'Ali ibn Nasr told us, 'Ubayd ibn 'Aql told us, Sahl told us, from Ibn Kathir: "Why was there not a town that believed"—meaning: "No town believed, except the people of Yunus (Jonah) and Yusuf."

His saying, the Almighty: "a town that believed."

10593 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman told us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali told us, 'Amir ibn al-Furat told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi, regarding "Why was there not a town that believed and its belief benefited it?"—he said: "Yunus ibn Matta (peace be upon him) was one of the prophets of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. Allah sent him to a town called Nineveh on the bank of the Tigris."

10594 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa told us, Salamah told us, from Ibn Ishaq: "And among the accounts of Yunus ibn Matta therein: it reached me that Allah, Blessed and Exalted, sent him to the people of the town of Nineveh, and it is in the lands of Mosul."

His saying, the Almighty: "believed and its belief benefited it, except the people of Yunus."

10595 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar told us, Hudbah ibn Khalid told us, Aban al-'Attar told us, Ya'la ibn 'Ata' told us, Abu 'Alqamah al-Hashimi or another man told us, that 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Caution does not repel destiny, but supplication repels destiny. And that is in the Book of Allah: 'except the people of Yunus when they believed, We removed from them...' the verse."
