10608 - 'Abd Allah ibn Ahmad al-Dashtaki told us, my father told us, my father told me from his father, from Ibrahim al-Sa'igh, from Yazid al-Nahwi, who said: 'Ikrimah said regarding 'For a time': 'The time [al-hin] is that which cannot be grasped.'
His saying, the Almighty: 'And We granted them enjoyment for a time.'
10609 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj told us, Abu Nu'aym told us, from Sufyan, from 'Asim, from Abu Razin, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: 'Time [al-hin] is of two types: a time that is known and a time that is not known. As for that which is not known, [it is in the verse]: 'And you will surely know its information after a time.''
10610 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman ibn al-Ash'ath told us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali told us, 'Amir ibn al-Furat told us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, who says: 'So they believed and We granted them enjoyment for a time'—he says: 'Until their appointed term.'
His saying, the Almighty: 'And if your Lord had willed, those on earth would have believed, all of them entirely'—the verse.
10611 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr told us, Ibn Lahi'ah told me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar told us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: 'Believers'—he says: 'Believing/confirming.'
His saying, the Almighty: 'And it is not for a soul to believe except by the permission of Allah'—the verse.
[The First Aspect]
10612 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: 'A time'—he says: 'Displeasure.'
The Second Aspect:
10613 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah told us, 'Ata' ibn Dinar told us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding his saying: 'Rijs' [the abomination/filth]—he means: 'Sin.'
The Third Aspect:
10613 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah mentioned, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: 'Rijs' is that in which there is no good.
The Fourth Aspect:
10614 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn Abu al-Jumahir told us, Sa'id told us, from Qatadah: 'And He places Rijs upon those who do not use intellect'—he said: 'Rijs is the Devil.'
