al-Ash‘ari al-Qummi, Ya‘qub told us, and I asked him and said: "A dwelling place and a repository?"

10693 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi told us, Yazid ibn Zuray‘ told us, Sa‘id ibn ‘Arubah told us, from Qatadah regarding "created the heavens and the earth," he said: "He created the heavens before the earth."

10694 - Abu ‘Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tahrani informed us in what he wrote to me, Isma‘il ibn ‘Abd al-Karim told us, ‘Abd al-Samad ibn Ma‘qil informed me that he heard Wahb ibn Munabbih say regarding him: "‘Uzayr said: 'O Lord, You commanded the water, so it congealed in the midst of the air, and You made from it seven [layers], and named them the heavens. Then You commanded the water to split from the earth, and You commanded the earth to separate from the water, and it was as such, so You named all of that the earths and all the seas.'"

10695 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Muhammad ibn ‘Isa told us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl told us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "He brought the heavens and the earth into existence, and they did not exist, by His power. He did not seek help in that from any of His creation, and He was not associated in anything of His affair by His overpowering authority and His effective decree. When He intends anything to be, He says to it: 'Be,' and it is. So He finished creating the heavens and the earth in six days."

10696 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr ibn ‘Umarah reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "created the heavens and the earth in six days," he said: "A day whose measure is a thousand years."
