10725 - My father told us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Salih told us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Fazari told us, from Shayban al-Nahwi. Qatadah informed me, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: "A warner to the people."

His saying, the Exalted: "[is] over everything, a Guardian."

10727 - Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "Guardian," as for the Guardian, he is the Protector.

His saying, the Exalted: "Or do they say, 'He invented it'? Say, 'Then bring ten surahs like it that have been invented.'"

‘Ali ibn al-Mubarak informed us in what he wrote to me with his chain of narration, from Ibn Jurayj: "Or do they say, 'He invented it'?" they have already said it. "Say, 'Then bring ten surahs like it.'"

10728 - Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa’ told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding "surahs like it," he said: Like the Qur’an.

10729 - Abu Zur‘ah al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi told us, Yazid ibn Zuray‘ told us, Sa‘id ibn Abi ‘Arubah told us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "surahs like it that have been invented," he said: Like this Qur’an, in truth and sincerity; there is no falsehood in it, nor any lies.

10730 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad told us, Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Yasar told us, Surur ibn al-Mughirah told us, from ‘Abbad ibn Mansur, from al-Hasan, regarding His saying: "surahs like it," he said: They shall never be able—by Allah—to bring a surah like it, even if they were to strive.

His saying, the Exalted: "And call upon whomever you can besides Allah, if you should be truthful."

10731 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, Abu Ghassan Zunayj told us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl told us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, who said in what Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad told me, from ‘Ikrimah or Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding "And call upon whomever you can": From your helpers in that which you are upon, "if you should be truthful."

His saying, the Exalted: "And if they do not respond to you."

10732 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan told us, Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Harawi told us, Hajjaj told us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid, who said: The response is obedience.
