[His saying, the Exalted: "And a witness from him follows it"]

[The First Aspect]

10758 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj told us, Abu Usamah told us, from ‘Awf, from Sulayman al-‘Allaf, from al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali: "And a witness from him follows it," meaning: Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, a witness from Allah.

The Second Aspect:

10759 - My father told us, ‘Amr ibn ‘Ali al-Bahili told us, Muhammad ibn Sawwar told us, Sa‘id ibn Abi ‘Arubah told us, from Qatadah, from ‘Urwah, from Muhammad ibn ‘Ali, who said: I said to my father, "O my father! 'And a witness from him follows it,' the people say that you are he." He replied, "I wish that I were he, but it is his tongue."

It was narrated from al-Hasan and Qatadah something similar.

The Third Aspect:

10760 - My father told us, Abu al-Jumahir told us, Sa‘id ibn Bishr told us, ‘Imran (meaning: al-Qattan) told us, from Qatadah, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: Gabriel, meaning: his saying: "And a witness from him follows it." It was narrated from Abu al-‘Aliyah, Abu Salih, Mujahid (in one of the narrations), Ibrahim, ‘Ikrimah, al-Dahhak, ‘Ata’ al-Khurasani, and Khusayf something similar.

10761 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d informed me in what he wrote to me, my uncle told me, my father told us, from his father, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding his saying: "And a witness from him follows it," he is Gabriel, a witness from Allah regarding what he recites from the Book of Allah which He sent down to Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

10762 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj told us, Ibn Idris told us, from Layth, from Mujahid, regarding his saying: "And a witness from him follows it," he said: Gabriel, who recited the Torah, the Gospel, and the Qur'an; and he is the witness from Allah, the Almighty, the Majestic.

10763 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa’ told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding his saying: "And a witness from him follows it," he said: With him is a guardian from Allah, an angel.

The Fourth Aspect:
