from al-A‘mash, from al-Minhal, from ‘Abbad ibn ‘Abd Allah, who said: ‘Ali said: “There is no one from Quraysh but that a verse has been revealed concerning him.” It was said to him: “What was revealed concerning you?” He replied: “And a witness from him follows it.”
The Fifth Aspect:
10765 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed me in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, who said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying regarding the saying of Allah: “Is he then on a clear proof from his Lord, and a witness from Him follows it?” He said: “The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was on a clear proof from his Lord, and the Qur'an follows it as a witness as well, because it is from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.”
His saying, the Exalted: "And before it was the Book of Moses, an imam and a mercy"
10766 - My father told us, Muqatil ibn Muhammad told us, Waki‘ told us, from his father, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, regarding His saying: “the Book of Moses,” he said: “And before it, He brought the Book to Moses.”
10767 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Minjab told us, Bishr ibn ‘Umarah reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: “And before it was the Book of Moses, an imam and a mercy,” he said: “For before it, He recited the Torah upon Moses, just as He recited the Qur'an upon Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.”
His saying, the Exalted: "Those are the ones who believe"
10768 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Yahya ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr told us, Ibn Lahi‘ah told us, ‘Ata’ ibn Dinar told us, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: “that they may believe,” he said: “That they may affirm.”
And by this chain, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: “in it,” meaning: “that they may affirm belief in Allah, the Exalted, and His Messenger.”
His saying, the Exalted: "And whoever disbelieves in it among the factions, the Fire is his promised place"
And by his chain from Ibn al-Mubarak, from Ibn Jurayj, regarding His saying: “And whoever disbelieves in it,” meaning: “in the Qur'an,” “among the factions.”
10769 - My father told us, Abu Bakr ibn Bashshar (meaning: Muhammad) told us, ‘Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi told us, from Ayyub, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, who said: “No hadith from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ever reached me correctly except that I found its confirmation in the Book of Allah, the Almighty, the Majestic. Until it reached me that he said: ‘No one from this nation, neither a Jew nor a Christian, hears of me then does not believe in what I was sent with, except that he enters the Fire.’ Sa‘id said: ‘I said: Where is this in the Book of Allah?’ Until I came upon this verse: “And whoever disbelieves in it among the factions, the Fire is his promised place,” meaning: “from all the religious groups.”
