The third interpretation:
10798 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu‘ayb ibn Ishaq told us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah, [regarding] His saying: "And humbled themselves (akhbatu) to their Lord," he says: "And turned in repentance (anabu) to their Lord."
10799 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-A‘la told us, Muhammad ibn Thawr told us, from Ma‘mar, from Qatadah, [regarding] "And they humbled themselves (wa akhbatu)," he said: "Al-ikhbat is humility and submissiveness."
His saying, the Exalted: "Those are the companions of Paradise"
10800 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, Abu Ghassan told us, Salamah told us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq told us, Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad told us, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, [regarding] His saying: "Those are the companions of Paradise," meaning: "Whoever believed in what you disbelieved in, and acted according to what you abandoned of His religion, then for them is Paradise, abiding therein forever."
His saying, the Exalted: "They therein will abide"
10801 - And by the same chain, from Ibn ‘Abbas, [regarding] "They therein will abide": "Then for them is Paradise, abiding therein forever. He informs them that the reward for good and evil is established upon its people forever, having no cessation."
His saying, the Exalted: "The example of the two parties"
10802 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam say: "Then he mentioned Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he recited in that which was between him and his Creator; he recited: 'The example of the two parties,' the entire verse."
10803 - Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu‘ayb ibn Ishaq told us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah, [regarding] His saying: "The example of the two parties": "This is an example Allah set forth for the disbeliever and the believer."
His saying, the Exalted: "Is like the blind and the deaf"
10804 - And by the same chain, from Qatadah, [regarding] His saying: "The example of the two parties is like the blind and the deaf": "This is an example He set forth for the disbeliever and the believer. As for the disbeliever, he is deaf to the truth, so he does not hear, nor see, nor understand, nor benefit from it."

١٠٧٩٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عن قتادة، قوله: أخبتوا إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَقُولُ وَأَنَابُوا إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ.
١٠٧٩٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ثَوْرٍ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، وَأَخْبَتُوا قَالَ: الإِخْبَاتُ: الْخُشُوعُ وَالتَّوَاضُعُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: أُولَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ
١٠٨٠٠ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ، ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَوْلُهُ: أُولَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ أَيْ مَنْ آمَنَ بِمَا كَفَرْتُمْ وَعَمِلَ بِمَا تَرَكْتُمْ مِنْ دِينِهِ فَلَهُمُ الْجَنَّةُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ
١٠٨٠١ - وَبِهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ: فَلَهُمُ الْجَنَّةُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا يُخْبِرُهُمْ أَنَّ الثَّوَابَ بِالْخَيْرِ وَالسَّيْئِ مُقِيمٌ عَلَى أَهْلِهِ أَبَدًا لَا انْقِطَاعَ لَهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: مَثَلُ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ
١٠٨٠٢ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ قَالَ: ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَرَأَ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ خَالِقِهِ فَقَرَأَ: مَثَلُ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ الآيَةَ كُلَّهَا.
١٠٨٠٣ - حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَوْلُهُ: مَثَلُ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ: هَذَا مَثَلٌ ضَرَبَهُ اللَّهُ لِلْكَافِرِ وَالْمُؤْمِنِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: كَالأَعْمَى وَالأَصَمِّ
١٠٨٠٤ - وَبِهِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَوْلُهُ: مَثَلُ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ كَالأَعْمَى وَالأَصَمِّ هَذَا مَثَلٌ ضَرَبَهُ لِلْكَافِرِ وَالْمُؤْمِنِ أَمَّا الْكَافِرُ فَأَصَمٌ، عَنِ الْحَقِّ، فَلا يَسْمَعُ وَلا يُبْصِرُ وَلا يَعْقِلُ وَلا يَنْتَفِعُ بِهِ.
