His saying, the Exalted: "O Noah, you have disputed with us..." the verse.
10824 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa’ told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "you have disputed with us (jadal-tana)" meaning: you have argued with us.
His saying, the Exalted: "And you will not cause failure [to Allah]."
10825 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Minjab told us, Bishr told us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "cause failure [to Allah] (bi-mu‘jizina)" he said: "outrun [Him]."
His saying: "And my advice will not benefit you, although I intended to advise you, if Allah should intend to..." the verse.
10826 - ‘Isam ibn Rawwad told us, Adam Abu Ja‘far al-Razi told us, from al-Rabi‘, from Abu al-‘Aliyah, regarding "to Him you will be returned," he said: "To Him they will be returned after life."
His saying, the Exalted: "my crime."
10827 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Safwan told us, al-Walid told us, Sa‘id told us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying, the Exalted: "and upon me is my crime (ijrami)" he says: "upon me is my deed."
His saying, the Exalted: "and I am innocent of that which you commit [in crime]."
10828 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn al-Hisinjani told us, Abu al-Jamahir told us, Sa‘id ibn Bashir told us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "and I am innocent of that which you commit [in crime]" meaning: of that which you do.
His saying, the Exalted: "And it was revealed to Noah..." the verse.
10829 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu‘ayb ibn Ishaq told us, Ibn Abi ‘Arubah told us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And it was revealed to Noah that 'no one will believe from your people except those who have already believed,'" and that was when Noah supplicated against them, he said: "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers any inhabitant."
10830 - My father told us, ‘Awf ibn Muhammad Abu Ghassan al-Muradi told us, Muhammad ibn Muslim al-Tanafisi told us, from Ayyub ibn Musa, from Muhammad ibn Ka‘b, he said: "When Allah had rescued every believing man and every believing woman from the loins of men and the wombs of women, He said: 'O Noah, no one will believe from your people except those who have already believed, so do not be distressed by what they have been doing.'"
