10871 - My father told us, Abu Salih the scribe of al-Layth told us, al-Layth told us, Hammam ibn Sa'id told us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When Noah loaded two of every pair into the Ark, his companions said, 'How shall we have peace of mind, or how shall the cattle have peace of mind, while the lion is with us?' So Allah cast the fever upon it, and it was the first fever to descend upon the earth. Then they complained about the mouse, saying, 'The little wicked one spoils our food and our goods.' So Allah revealed to the lion; it sneezed, and the cat emerged from it, and the mouse hid from it."

10872 - Ahmad ibn 'Isam told us, Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri told us, Sufyan told us, from 'Ali ibn Zayd ibn Jud'an, from Yusuf ibn Mihran, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: "When Noah was in the Ark, the mouse gnawed the ropes of the Ark. He complained about that, so it was revealed to him. He wiped the tail of the lion, and cats emerged. There was dung in the Ark, and he complained about it, so it was revealed to him. He wiped the tail of the elephant, and two pigs emerged."

His saying, the Exalted: "And your family."

10873 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq told us, Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah told us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And your family"—it was mentioned to us that none were saved from those in the Ark except Noah, his three sons, and their wives, totaling eight.

10874 - My father told us, Ahmad ibn Hashim al-Ramli told us, Damrah ibn Rabi'ah told us, from Matar, he said: "There were seven in the Ark with Noah: Noah, his three children, and their three wives."

His saying, the Exalted: "Except those for whom the word has already gone forth."

10875 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn Abu al-Jumahir told us, Sa'id ibn Bashir told us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And your family, except those for whom the word has already gone forth"—that they are to be drowned.

His saying, the Exalted: "And whoever has believed, and none had believed along with him except a few."

10876 - Al-'Abbas ibn Yazid al-'Abdi told us, Yazid ibn Zuray' told us, from Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, from Samurah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Sam is the father of the Arabs, Yafith is the father of the Byzantines, and Ham is the father of the Abyssinians."

10877 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj told us, Ibn Abi Ghaniyah told us, from his father, from al-Hakam, regarding "And whoever has believed, and none had believed along with him except a few," he said: "It was Noah, his three sons, and their four wives."
