His saying, the Exalted: "In the name of Allah."

10883 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad told us, Adam told us, Abu Hilal al-Rasi told us, Habban al-A'raj told us, from Abu al-Sha'tha' Jabir ibn Zayd, regarding his saying: "In the name of Allah," he said: "The greatest name of Allah is Allah. Do you not see that in the entire Qur'an, it begins before every other name?"

And Allah is the God of the creation."

10885 - Abu Harun al-Khazzaz told us, 'Ali ibn al-Jahm told us, 'Umar ibn Abi Qays told us, from 'Asim, from al-Sha'bi, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) wrote four documents, the first of which was 'In Your name, O Allah.' Then Surat Hud was revealed: 'In the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage.'"

His saying, the Exalted: "In the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage."

And when he wanted it to stop, he would say: 'In the name of Allah is its anchorage,' and it would stop."

10887 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding his saying: "In the name of Allah when you board," meaning: "Its course and its anchorage when you are sailing."

If you wish, say as Noah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: 'In the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage; indeed, my Lord is Forgiving, Merciful.' Whoever boards a mount and does not mention the name of Allah, the Devil comes and says, 'Sing.' If he does not sing, he says to him, 'Walk.'"
