And whoever reads it as 'Amila ghayra salihin' (he did a deed other than righteous).

10929 - al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan told us, Hawdah told us, 'Awn told us, from al-Hasan, that he used to read it: 'Amila ghayra salihin.' He said: He was born of adultery, and he used to be attributed to him [Noah], so Allah disowned him from the day of the drowning.

The second interpretation:

Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah told us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: 'Innahu 'amila ghayra salihin,' he said: The wives of the Prophets do not commit adultery. And he used to read it: 'Amila ghayra salihin.' He said: It means: Your asking me [for him], O Noah, is a deed other than righteous, I do not approve of it for you.

His saying: "So do not ask Me for that of which you have no knowledge."

10930 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding "So do not ask Me for that of which you have no knowledge," he said: Allah said to Noah: Indeed, he is not his son.

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, I advise you, lest you be among the ignorant."

10931 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying regarding His saying: "Indeed, I advise you, lest you be among the ignorant," [meaning]: Lest ignorance leads you to ask me for something I have not promised you, until you ask me for that of which you have no knowledge... He said: For it is a sin. [Noah said]: "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers."

His saying, the Exalted: "And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers."

10932 - My father told us, al-Fadl ibn Dukayn told us, he said: The letter of 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-Aziz reached us during a campaign that took place during his governance: "As to what follows: It has reached me that this campaign is something with which Allah punishes His creation, so say as Noah said: 'And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers.'"

His saying, the Exalted: "It was said, 'O Noah, disembark with peace from Us.'"

10933 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Safwan told us, al-Walid told us, Sa'id told us, from Qatadah, he said: He descended to the earth on the day of 'Ashura', and Noah and those with him fasted from sunset to sunset.
