His saying, the Exalted: "And the punishment took those who did wrong."

10999 - Ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, told us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah told us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: When it was the morning of Sunday and the day had intensified, the punishment took them. No small or large one among them remained except that they perished, except for a crippled young woman called al-Thari'ah. She was a disbelieving woman with intense hostility toward Salih. Allah loosened her legs when she witnessed the calamity, so she went out as quickly as anything has ever been seen, until she reached the people of Kharj and informed them of what she had witnessed of the punishment and what had afflicted Thamud from it. She asked for water and was given to drink, and when she drank, she died.

His saying, the Exalted: "And they became within their homes..."

11000 - Musa ibn Abi Musa told us, Harun ibn Hatim told us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik: "Within their homes," meaning: their houses.

His saying, the Exalted: "...fallen prone."
