11004 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la told us, Muhammad ibn Thawr told us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah: "As if they had not prospered therein," meaning: as if they had not enjoyed blessings.

And it was narrated from Abu Malik: "As if they had not existed therein."

His saying, the Exalted: "And Our messengers had certainly come to Abraham with good tidings."

11005 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Nasr ibn 'Ali told us, 'Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi told us, from Dawud, from 'Ikrimah, regarding His saying: "Our messengers had certainly come to Abraham with good tidings," he said: Good tidings of his prophethood.

His saying, the Exalted: "They said, 'Peace!' He said, 'Peace!'"

11006 - My father mentioned from Nasr ibn 'Ali, 'Abd al-Wahhab told us, from Husam, from Abu Bashir, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding what was said by the angels and how Abraham, peace be upon him, replied to them, for He says: "They said, 'Peace!' He said, 'Peace!'"

His saying, the Exalted: "So he did not delay in bringing a roasted calf."

11007 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab told us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah told us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "a roasted calf," he said: Meaning: he roasted it until it was cooked.

11008 - He mentioned it from Abu Musa Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna, Abu 'Amir told us, Ibrahim ibn Tahman told us, from Muslim, from Mujahid, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "a roasted calf," he said: A whole roasted calf.

11009 - My father told us, Sa'id ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Muqri and 'Isa ibn Ziyad said: Ya'qub ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ash'ari told us, from Hafs ibn Humayd, from Shimr ibn 'Atiyyah, regarding "bringing a roasted calf," he said: The 'hanidh' is that which its juices drip while it is being roasted. Hafs said: And 'hanidh' is like the 'hinadh' of horses, when the sweat/moisture drips from it.

11010 - My father told us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Munib told us, Abu Mu'adh al-Nahwi told us, from 'Ubayd ibn Sulayman, from al-Dahhak, regarding His saying: "a roasted calf," and 'hanidh' is: that which is cooked by stones.

11011 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid informed us by way of reading, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb informed me, 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed me, from his father: As for "a roasted calf," it is said: The cooked, hot one.
