strong support.” Then Gabriel turned to him and said: “Do not fear, indeed we are messengers of your Lord; they will never reach you.” He said: When they drew near, he obliterated their eyes, so they departed blind, bumping into one another, until when they reached those who were at the door, they said: “We have come to you from the side of the most magical of people; our sights have been obliterated.” He said: So they departed, bumping into one another until they entered the city. It was in the dead of night, and it [the destruction] occurred, such that they could even hear the sound of the birds in the sky. Then it was overturned upon them; whoever was struck by the overthrow perished, and whoever went out from it, I followed him wherever he was, and it killed him.
11081 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Muhammad ibn 'Isa told us, Salamah told us, from Ibn Ishaq: They said: “O Lot, indeed we are messengers of your Lord; they will never reach you” to anything you dislike.
His saying, the Exalted: “So set out with your family.”
11082 - Abu Zur'ah told us, 'Amr ibn Hammad told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi regarding “So set out with your family,” he says: Pass with them, and follow behind your family.
His saying, the Exalted: “in a portion of the night.”
11083 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: “in a portion of the night”: A darkness of the night.
11084 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq told us, Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah told us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: “in a portion of the night,” meaning: with a segment of the night, meaning darkness.
11085 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn al-Hisinjani told us, Sa'id ibn Abi Maryam told us, al-Mufaddal ibn Fadalah told us, from Abu Sakhr regarding His saying: “So set out with your family in a portion of the night,” he said: The early dawn.
His saying, the Exalted: “And let not any among you look back, except your wife.”
11086 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah told us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: “And let not any among you look back,” he said: And let not any among you stay behind.
رُكْنٍ شَدِيدٍ
فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيْهِ جِبْرِيلُ فَقَالَ: لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَنْ يَصِلُوا إِلَيْكَ قَالَ:
فَلَمَّا دَنَوْا طَمَسَ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فَانْطَلَقُوا عُمْيًا يَرْكَبُ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا حَتَّى إِذَا خَرَجُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ بِالْبَابِ فَقَالُوا جِئْنَاكُمْ مِنْ عِنْدِ أَسْحَرِ النَّاسِ طُمِسَتْ أَنْظَارُنَا قَالَ: فَانْطَلَقُوا يَرْكَبُ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا حَتَّى دَخَلُوا الْمَدِينَةَ فَكَانَ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ فَوَقَعَتْ حَتَّى إِنَّهُمْ لَيَسْمَعُونَ صَوْتَ الطَّيْرِ فِي جَوِّ السَّمَاءِ ثُمَّ قُلِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ فَمَنْ أَصَابَتْهُ الِانْتِفَاكَةُ هلكته، وَمَنْ خَرَجَ مِنْهَا اتَّبَعْتُهُ حَيْثُ كَانَ فَقَتَلَتْهُ.
١١٠٨١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ثنا سَلَمَةُ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالُوا يَا لُوطُ إِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَنْ يَصِلُوا إِلَيْكَ إِلَى شَيْءٍ تَكْرَهُهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ
١١٠٨٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ يَقُولُ: مُرَّ بِهِمْ وَاتَّبِعْ أَدْبَارَ أَهْلِكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: بِقِطْعٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ
١١٠٨٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: بِقِطْعٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ: سَوَّادٌ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ.
١١٠٨٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: بِقِطْعٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ أَيْ: بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ أَيْ سَوَّادٍ.
١١٠٨٥ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْهِسِنْجَانِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا المفضل ابن فَضَالَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي صَخْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ: السَّحَرُ الأَوَّلُ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلا امْرَأَتَكَ
١١٠٨٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ قَالَ: وَلا يَتَخَلَّفْ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ.
