from among the angels, and said: "Be blind." Until when they reached the morning, he carried their land upon his wing and proceeded with it, then he overturned it.

11093 - Abu Zur'ah told us, 'Amr ibn Hammad told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi, he said: Lot said, "Destroy them now!" They said, "We have not been commanded except for the morning; is not the morning near?"

11094 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, Yusuf ibn Waqid told us, from Ya'qub ibn 'Abd Allah, from Ja'far ibn Abi al-Mughirah, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, he said: Lot said to them, "Destroy them now!" Gabriel said to him, "Indeed, their appointed time is the morning; is not the morning near?" So [the verse] was revealed to Lot: "Is not the morning near?"

11095 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of the Banu Hashim, told us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah told us, Salamah told us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: "Indeed, their appointed time is the morning; is not the morning near?" i.e., the punishment will descend upon them from the morning of this night of yours, so proceed with what you are commanded.

His saying, the Exalted: "So when Our command came."

11096 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan told us, Musaddad told us, Khalid told us, Husayn told us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: When it was in the middle of the night, he inserted his two wings beneath the village and lifted it up until it was in the expanse of the sky, to the point that they could hear the sounds of the birds, then he overturned it, and then he followed those who escaped among them with stones.

11097 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn Musa ibn Abi Nu'aym al-Nahwi al-Wasiti told us, Muhammad ibn Yazid told us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, he said: He narrated to me that Allah, Blessed and Exalted, sent Gabriel to the overturned cities—the overturned cities of the people of Lot—among them, and he carried them with his wing. Then he ascended with them until the inhabitants of the heaven could hear the barking of their dogs and the sounds of their chickens. Then Allah followed them with stones. Allah says: "We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of layered baked clay." So Allah destroyed it and those surrounding it from the overturned cities, and they were five: Sayghah, Sagharah, Ghamrah, Duman, and Sadum, and it is the greatest village.
