His saying, Exalted is He: "Fight those who do not believe in Allah"
10025 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us from Ibn Abi Najih from Mujahid: His saying: "Fight those who do not believe in Allah and not in the Last Day," [was revealed] when Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions were ordered to go on the expedition of Tabuk.
10026 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us—in what he wrote to me—Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying: Allah, Exalted is He, said: "Fight those who do not believe in Allah and not in the Last Day." He said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) finished fighting those of the Arabs near him, he ordered him to strive against the People of the Scripture. He said: "And strive against them the best of striving."
His saying, Exalted is He: "They do not believe in Allah and not in the Last Day"
10027 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to us from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "Fight those who do not believe in Allah," meaning: those who do not attest to the oneness (tawhid) of Allah.
His saying, Exalted is He: "And [they] do not forbid what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden"
10028 - And by the same chain from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "And [they] do not forbid what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden," meaning: wine and swine.
His saying, Exalted is He: "And [they] do not follow the religion of truth"
10029 - And by the same chain from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "And [they] do not follow the religion of truth," meaning: the religion of Islam, because every religion other than Islam is false. It was narrated from 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz that he said: The religion of truth is Islam.
His saying, Exalted is He: "From those who were given the Scripture"
10030 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya narrated to us, 'Abd Allah narrated to us, 'Ata' narrated to us from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "From those who were given the Scripture," meaning: from the Jews and the Christians, who were given the Scripture before the Muslims, the nation of Muhammad (peace be upon him).

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: قَاتِلُوا الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ
١٠٠٢٥ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١»
قَوْلُهُ: قَاتِلُوا الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَلا بِالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ حِينَ أَمَرَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ بِغَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ.
١٠٠٢٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ- فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ- ثنا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ يَقُولُ: قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: قَاتِلُوا الَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَلا بِالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ قَالَ: فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ. صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- مَنْ قِتَالِ مَنْ يَلِيهِ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ أَمَرَهُ بِجِهَادِ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ قَالَ: وَجَاهِدْهُمْ أَفْضَلَ الْجِهَادِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَلا بِالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ
١٠٠٢٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ثنا عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ قَاتِلُوا الَّذِينَ لا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ يَعْنِي الَّذِينَ لَا يُصَدِّقُونَ بِتَوْحِيدِ اللَّهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا يُحَرِّمُونَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
١٠٠٢٨ - وَبِهِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ وَلا يُحَرِّمُونَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ يَعْنِي: الْخَمْرُ وَالْخِنْزِيرُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلا يَدِينُونَ دَيْنَ الْحَقِّ
١٠٠٢٩ - وَبِهِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ وَلا يَدِينُونَ دَيْنَ الْحَقِّ يَعْنِي:
دَيْنَ الإِسْلامِ، لأَنْ كُلَّ دَيْنٍ غَيْرَ الإِسْلامِ بَاطِلٌ.
وَرُوِيَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: دَيْنَ الْحَقِّ الإِسْلامُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ
١٠٠٣٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ثنا عَطَاءٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ مِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ يَعْنِي: مِنَ الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى، أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ أُمَّةُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسلم.
