His saying, the Exalted: "And for that He created them"

11291 - My father told us, Muhammad ibn 'Imran ibn Abi Layla told us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah told us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "And for that He created them," he said: For mercy. It was narrated from Mujahid and Qatadah the same as that.

11292 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "And for that He created them," he said: He created them [as] two groups: a group that receives mercy and thus does not differ, and a group that does not receive mercy and thus differs. That is His saying: "Some of them are wretched and [some] fortunate."

11293 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la reported to us through reading, Ibn Wahb told us, Muslim ibn Khalid told me, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Tawus that two men disputed before him and spoke at length. Tawus said: "You both have differed and spoken at length." One of the men said: "For that we were created." Tawus said: "You lied." He said: "Does Allah not say: 'But they will not cease to differ, except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them'?" He said: "He did not create them to differ, but He created them for the community (al-Jama'ah) and for mercy."

11294 - My father told us, Sahl ibn 'Uthman told us, Yahya ibn Abi Za'idah told us, he said: Ibn Jurayj said: Mujahid said: He created the people of truth and those who followed him for His mercy.

11295 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj told us, Isma'il ibn 'Ulayyah told us, from Mansur ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, he said: I asked al-Hasan about "But they will not cease to differ, except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them," he said: He created these for His Paradise, and these for the Fire, and He created these for His mercy, and these for the punishment.

11296 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la reported to us through reading, Ibn Wahb told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid informed me, and Yahya ibn 'Abdak al-Muqri' told me, al-Mas'udi told us, he said: I heard 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz saying regarding this verse: "But they will not cease to differ, except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them," he said: He created the people of His mercy so that they would not differ.

11297 - Humayd ibn 'Abbas told us, Mu'ammal ibn Isma'il told us, Hammad ibn Salamah and Hammad ibn Zayd told us, they said: Khalid al-Hadhdha' told us, he said: I said to al-Hasan regarding His saying: "But they will not cease to differ, except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them," he said: He created the people of His mercy for Paradise so that they would not differ, and He created the people of difference for His Fire.
