His saying, Exalted is He: "Even if the polytheists dislike it"
10073 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih—the scribe of al-Layth—narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "Even if the polytheists dislike it," he said: The polytheists and the Jews used to dislike that Allah should manifest His Prophet over the affair of the entire religion.
His saying, Exalted is He: "O you who have believed, indeed many of the scholars and the monks"
10074 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman informed us—in what he wrote to me—Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us from al-Suddi regarding his saying: "Indeed many of the scholars..." As for the scholars (al-ahbar), they are from the Jews, and as for the monks (al-ruhban), they are from the Christians.
10075 - My father narrated to us, 'Imran ibn Musa al-Tarasusi narrated to us, 'Abd al-Samad ibn Yazid—the servant of al-Fudayl ibn 'Iyad—narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Fudayl ibn 'Iyad recite this verse: "Indeed many of the scholars and the monks." He said: The interpretation of the scholars (al-ahbar) is the learned ones, and the interpretation of the monks (al-ruhban) is the worshippers.
His saying, Exalted is He: "Consume the wealth of people unjustly"
10076 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to us from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "unjustly (bil-batil)," he said: It means by way of oppression.
10077 - Ibn Abi Salim mentioned to us, Ishaq ibn Rahwayh narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Yazid informed us, Juwaybir narrated to us from al-Dahhak regarding his saying: "Consume the wealth of people unjustly." And the "unjustly" refers to books they wrote—which Allah did not send down—so they consumed people's wealth by means of them. That is His saying: "For those who write the Book with their own hands."
His saying, Exalted is He: "And turn people away from the path of Allah."

10078 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed us—in what he wrote to me—Ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us from al-Suddi regarding his saying: "And turn people away from the path of Allah." As for the path of Allah, it is Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
[The second interpretation]
10079 - My father narrated to us, al-Musayyab ibn Wadih narrated to us, 'Ali ibn Bakkar narrated to us from Ibn 'Awn regarding the saying of Allah: "turn people away from the path of Allah." He said: They are those who discourage others from fighting (Jihad) in the path of Allah.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ
١٠٠٧٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ كَاتِبُ اللَّيْثِ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ قَالَ: كَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ وَالْيَهُودُ يَكْرَهُونَ أَنْ يُظْهِرَ اللَّهُ نَبِيَّهُ عَلَى أَمْرِ الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ كَثِيرًا من الأحبار والرهبان
١٠٠٧٤ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الأَحْبَارِ أَمَّا الأَحْبَارُ: فَمِنَ الْيَهُودِ وَأَمَّا الرُّهْبَانُ: فَمِنَ النَّصَارَى.
١٠٠٧٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى الطَّرَسُوسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ خَادِمُ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْفُضَيْلَ بْنَ عِيَاضٍ تَلا هَذِهِ الآيَةَ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الأَحْبَارِ وَالرُّهْبَانِ قَالَ: تَفْسِيرُ الأَحْبَارِ: الْعُلَمَاءُ وَتَفْسِيرُ الرُّهْبَانِ: الْعُبَّادُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ
١٠٠٧٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ثنا عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ بِالْبَاطِلِ: يَعْنِي بالظلم.
١٠٠٧٧ - ذكره ابن أبي سلم ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ رَاهَوَيْهِ أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ثنا جُوَيْبِرٌ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لَيَأْكُلُونَ أَمْوَالَ النَّاسِ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَالْبَاطِلُ: كُتُبٌ كَتَبُوهَا- وَاللَّهُ لَمْ يُنَزِّلْهَا اللَّهُ، فَأَكَلُوا بِهَا النَّاسَ فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ: لِلَّذِينَ يَكْتُبُونَ الْكِتَابَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تعالى: ويصدون عن سبيل الله.

١٠٠٧٨ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ ثنا ابْنُ مُفَضَّلٌ ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: وَيَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمَا سَبِيلُ اللَّهِ: فَمُحَمَّدٌ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ-.
الْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
