His saying, Exalted is He: "Indeed, the number of months with Allah" to His saying: "and the earth."

10096 - Ahmad ibn Yunus ibn al-Musayyab al-Dabbi narrated to us, Makki ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Musa ibn 'Ubaydah narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Dinar, from Ibn 'Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) stopped at al-'Aqabah, and as many of the Muslims as Allah willed gathered around him. He praised Allah and extolled Him as He deserves, then said: "O people, indeed time has revolved in its original state on this day, as it was the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. And indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve months in the Book of Allah."

10097 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid (1): "Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve months in the Book of Allah," by which the matter of al-Nasi' (the postponing of sacred months) is known, regarding what has been diminished from the year.

His saying, Exalted is He: "In the Book of Allah."

10098 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed us, in what he wrote to me, that Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding "In the Book of Allah the day He created the heavens and the earth," as for the Book of Allah, it is that which is with Him.

His saying, Exalted is He: "Of them are four sacred."

10099 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Hisinjani narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, Isma'il ibn 'Ulayyah narrated to us, Ayyub narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Sirin, from Abu Bakrah, that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) addressed the people during his pilgrimage and said: "Indeed, time has revolved in its original state as it was the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year is twelve months in the Book of Allah... of them are four sacred: three consecutive—Dhu al-Qa'dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and al-Muharram—and Rajab of Mudar, which is between Jumada and Sha'ban."

10000 - (*) My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve months in the Book of Allah the day He created the heavens and the earth. Of them are four sacred." Then He singled out four months from that and made them sacred, and magnified their sanctity, and made the sin in them greater, and the good deed and the reward greater."
