[This was] when they were commanded to embark on the expedition of Tabuk after the Conquest [of Makkah], and after al-Ta'if, and after Hunayn. They were ordered to go forth in the summer when the palm trees had ripened, the fruits were mature, and they desired the shade, and the departure was burdensome for them.

He said: Then what is the matter with you that when you are told to go forth in the cause of Allah, you adhere heavily to the earth and do not go forth until the authorities remove you from your homes? And when you are told to depart with the blessing of Allah, being permitted to do so, you urge your mounts on and cause your eyes to stay awake until you reach your families?
