"By Allah, I will surely obscure you from those behind you who are in pursuit. This is my quiver, so take an arrow, and you will pass by my camels and my sheep at such-and-such a place, so take from them what you need." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "We have no need of your camels." So the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) prayed for him, and he left, returning to his companions, and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) continued on, and I was with him until we reached Medina.
His saying, Exalted is He: "The second of two."
10038 - My father narrated to us, Abu Malik—Kathir ibn Yahya—narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Abu Balj, from 'Amr ibn Maymun, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: 'Ali risked his own soul by sleeping on the bed of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) while the polytheists were pelting him [with stones]. Abu Bakr came and said: "O Messenger of Allah!"—thinking he was the Messenger of Allah—and he [Ali] said: "I am not the Prophet of Allah. Go join the Prophet of Allah at the well of Maymun." So he entered the cave with him. They were pelting the Messenger of Allah, and he did not wince, while 'Ali was wincing. When morning came, they said: "We were pelting Muhammad and he did not wince, yet you are wincing, and we found that strange."
His saying, Exalted is He: "When they were in the cave."
10039 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Wahb informed us, Yunus ibn Yazid narrated to us, from Ibn Shihab, 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr informed us, saying: 'A'ishah said: "While we were sitting one day in the heat of midday, a caller said to Abu Bakr: 'This is the Messenger of Allah, coming at an hour he does not usually come to us.' Abu Bakr said: 'May my father and mother be a ransom for him; if he has come at this hour, it is for some matter.' The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) came, sought permission, and was granted it. He entered and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to Abu Bakr: 'Ask those who are with you to leave.' Abu Bakr said: 'O Messenger of Allah, they are only your family, may I be your ransom.' He said: 'I have been granted permission to depart.' Abu Bakr said: 'May I be your ransom, O Messenger of Allah, as a companion?' He said: 'Yes.' Abu Bakr said: 'Then take one of these two mounts of mine.' The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: 'By payment.'" 'A'ishah said: "We prepared them with the best equipment and placed some dry food for them in a leather bag. Asma' bint Abi Bakr cut a piece from her belt and tied the bag with it, and that is why she is called Dhat al-Nitaqayn (The One with the Two Belts). Then the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) caught up with a cave in a mountain called Thawr, and they remained in it for three nights."
