His saying, Exalted is He: "When he said to his companion, 'Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us.'"

10040 - Abu Sa'id Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Humayd al-Ru'asi narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Nubayt al-Ashja'i, from Na'am, from Nubayt, from Salim ibn 'Ubayd, who was one of the People of the Suffah, he said: 'Umar took Abu Bakr by the hand and said: "Who is equal to these three? 'When he said to his companion'—who is his companion? 'When they were in the cave'—who are they? 'Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us.'"

10041 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn al-Harith, from his father, that Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) when he gave a speech said: "Which of you recites Surah al-Tawbah?" A man said: "I do." He said: "Recite." When he reached: "When he said to his companion, 'Do not grieve,'" Abu Bakr wept and said: "By Allah, I am his companion."

His saying, Exalted is He: "Then Allah sent down His tranquillity upon him."

[The First Aspect]

10042 - Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, who said: I heard al-Bara' saying: While a man was reciting Surah al-Kahf one night, he saw his beast jumping—or he said: his horse jumping—he looked and there was something like a mist or like a cloud. He mentioned that to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), who said: "That is the Tranquillity that descended for the Qur'an," or "descended upon the Qur'an."

10043 - My father narrated to us, 'Abdah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Ibn al-Mubarak informed us, Yahya ibn Ayyub informed us, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn Zahr, from Sa'd ibn Mas'ud: That the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was in a gathering when he raised his head toward the sky, then he lowered his gaze, then he raised it. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was asked and said: "These people were remembering Allah"—meaning the people of the gathering before him—"so the Tranquillity descended upon them, carried by the angels like a dome. When it drew near them, a man spoke falsehood, and it was lifted away from them."

10044 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri' narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Mis'ad, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, from Abu al-Ahwas, from 'Ali, who said: "The Tranquillity has a face like the face of a human, and it is after a gentle breeze."

And the Second Aspect:

10045 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq.
