to give him permission, but he refused. Then there was revealed on that day: "Go forth, whether light or heavy." When this verse was revealed, its matter was difficult for the people, so Allah abrogated it and said: "There is no blame upon the weak or the sick or upon those who do not find anything to spend, when they are sincere to Allah and His Messenger."
His saying, the Exalted: "And strive with your wealth and your lives in the cause of Allah."
10064 - Yunus ibn Habib narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Aban al-'Attar narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Zayd ibn Salam, from Abu Salam, from al-Harith, meaning: Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "I command you with five things that Allah has commanded me with: Jihad in the cause of Allah, the community (al-jama'ah), listening, obedience, and Hijrah."
His saying, the Exalted: "That is better for you, if you only knew."

10066 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "Had it been an easy gain," he says: An easy booty.
10067 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding his saying: "Had it been an easy gain," he says: A worldly [gain] that they seek.
His saying, the Exalted: "And a moderate journey, they would have followed you."
10068 - And by the same chain from al-Suddi regarding his saying: "And a moderate journey, they would have followed you," he says: A nearby journey, they would have followed you.
10069 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah regarding: "Had it been an easy gain and a moderate journey, they would have followed you," he said: [This was] during the expedition of Tabuk.
His saying, the Exalted: "But the distance was too far for them."
10070 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding the saying of Allah: "But the distance was too far for them," he said: The journey.
يَأْذَنَ لَهُ فَأَبَى، فَنَزَلَتْ يَوْمَئِذٍ انْفِرُوا خِفَافًا وَثِقَالا، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ اشْتَدَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ شَأْنُهَا، فَنَسَخَهَا اللَّهُ فَقَالَ: لَيْسَ عَلَى الضُّعَفَاءِ وَلا عَلَى الْمَرْضَى وَلا عَلَى الَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ مَا يُنْفِقُونَ حَرَجٌ إِذَا نَصَحُوا لِلَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَجَاهِدُوا بِأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَأَنْفُسِكُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ.
١٠٠٦٤ - حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا أَبَانُ الْعَطَّارُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ سَلامٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلامٍ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ يَعْنِي: أَبَا مَالِكٍ الأَشْعَرِيَّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ-: «أَنَا آمُرُكُمْ بِخَمْسٍ أَمَرَنِي اللَّهُ بِهِنَّ،: الْجِهَادِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ، وَالْجَمَاعَةِ، وَالسَّمْعِ، وَالطَّاعَةِ، وَالْهِجْرَةِ» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ.
١٠٠٦٥ - حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ أَبِي مُوسَى الأَنْصَارِيُّ ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي حَمَّادٍ ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ ذلكم يَعْنِي: هَذَا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا
١٠٠٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا يَقُولُ: غَنِيمَةٌ قَرِيبَةٌ.
١٠٠٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا عَامِرُ بْنُ الْفُرَاتِ ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا يَقُولُ: دُنْيَا يَطْلُبُونَهَا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لاتَّبَعُوكَ.
١٠٠٦٨ - وَبِهِ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ قَوْلُهُ: وَسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لاتَّبَعُوكَ يَقُولُ: سَفَرًا قَرِيبًا لاتَّبَعُوكَ.
١٠٠٦٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ثَوْرٍ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضًا قَرِيبًا وَسَفَرًا قَاصِدًا لاتَّبَعُوكَ قَالَ: فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَكِنْ بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّقَّةُ.
