10302 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid (1), regarding His saying: "And say, 'He is an ear,'" [they mean]: "We will say to him what we wish, then we will swear to him, and he will believe us."
10303 - Al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid informed us, by way of recitation, Muhammad ibn Shu‘ayb ibn Shabur narrated to us, ‘Uthman ibn ‘Ata’ informed me, from his father, regarding His saying: "And they say, 'He is an ear,'" that the ear is: the one who hears from everyone and believes them.
His saying, the Almighty: "Say, 'An ear of goodness for you, who believes in Allah.'"
10304 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: "And they say, 'He is an ear,'" he means: He hears from everyone. Allah says: "An ear of goodness for you," He says: He believes in Allah, meaning: He affirms [the truth of] Allah. It was narrated from al-Dahhak similar to that.
10305 - ‘Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, ‘Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "Who believes in Allah," he says: He believes when it is sworn to him by Allah.
His saying, the Almighty: "And believes the believers."
10306 - Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn ‘Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: "And believes the believers," he said: He trusts the believers. It was narrated from al-Suddi similar to that.
10307 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, Asbagh narrated to us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying, regarding the saying of Allah: "Who believes in Allah and believes the believers," he said: He affirms you and hears your speech, [which is] better than his not affirming you. He said: They plotted against him with everything, and said: "By Allah, no one teaches him this except Yuhannis the Christian blacksmith," and he was a foreigner who worked with iron.
10308 - Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Aslam mentioned it to us, Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Yazid informed us, Juwaybir narrated to us, from al-Dahhak, regarding His saying: "And believes the believers," [it means]: He affirms Allah in what He revealed to him, and "believes the believers" [means]: He trusts the believers regarding what is between them in their testimonies, their oaths regarding their rights, their chastity, and their wealth.
