His saying, the Exalted: 'And you do not ask them for it any payment.'
12030 - Abu Zur‘a narrated to us, Minjab narrated to us, Bishr ibn ‘Umara informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: '...for it any payment,' he says: 'Any of the vanities of the worldly life.'
His saying, the Exalted: 'It is not but a reminder to the worlds.'
12031 - Kathir ibn Shihab narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Sa‘id ibn Sabiq narrated to us, Abu Ja‘far al-Razi narrated to us, from al-Rabi‘ ibn Anas, from Abu al-‘Aliya, who said: 'Mankind is a world (‘alam) and the Jinn are a world, and besides that, there are eighteen thousand worlds of angels upon the earth. The earth has four corners, and in each corner of it, there are four thousand and five hundred worlds, which Allah, blessed and exalted is He, created for His worship.'
His saying, the Exalted: 'And how many a sign within the heavens and the earth... until... are turning away.'
12032 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu al-Jamahir narrated to us, Sa‘id ibn Bashir narrated to us, Qatada narrated to us: 'And how many a sign within the heavens and the earth,' [meaning] they pass by, that is, they walk over them—in the reading of Ibn Mas‘ud—'while they are from them turning away.'
12033 - Abu Zur‘a narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, Khulayd narrated to us, from Qatada, regarding the saying of Allah: 'And how many a sign within the heavens and the earth they pass by while they are from them turning away.' He said: 'It is in the reading of Ibn Mas‘ud, "they walk over them." He said: In the heaven and the earth are two great signs.'
His saying, the Exalted: 'And most of them believe not in Allah except while they associate others with Him.'

12034 - My father narrated to us, ‘Abd Allah ibn Salih ibn Muslim al-‘Ijli narrated to us, Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Simak, from ‘Ikrama, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: 'And most of them believe not in Allah except while they associate others with Him,' [he said]: 'You ask them, "Who created them? And who created the heavens and the earth?" and they say, "Allah." So that is their belief, while they worship other than Him.'
12035 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Khalid al-Ahmar narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from al-Qasim ibn Abi Bazza, from Mujahid, regarding: 'And most of them believe not in Allah except while they associate others with Him,' he said: 'They say, "Allah is our Lord, Allah causes us to die, Allah provides for us."
12036 - My father narrated to us, ‘Ali ibn ‘Uthman al-Lahiqi narrated to us, Shu‘ayb ibn ‘Abd Allah Abu Shu‘ba, the owner of the taylasa (a type of shawl), narrated to us, [who] said: Al-Hasan was asked about this verse: "And most of them believe not in Allah..."
قوله تعالى: وما تسئلهم عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ.
١٢٠٣٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابٌ، أَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ يَقُولُ: عَرَضٌ مِنْ أَعْرَاضِ الدُّنْيَا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنْ هُوَ إِلا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ
١٢٠٣١ - حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ شِهَابٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَابِقٍ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الرَّازِيُّ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةَ قَالَ الإِنْسُ عَالِمٌ وَالْجِنُّ عَالَمٌ، وَسِوَى ذَلِكَ ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَر أَلْفَ عَالَمٍ مِنَ الْمَلائِكَةِ عَلَى الأَرْضِ وَالأَرْضُ أَرْبَعُ زَوَايَا فَفِي كُلِّ زَاوِيَةٍ مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةُ آلافٍ وَخمْسِمِائَةِ عَالَمٍ، خَلَقَهُمُ اللَّهُ لِعِبَادَتِهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ آية في السماوات والأرض إلى معرضون.
١٢٠٣٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ ثنا قَتَادَةُ وَكَأَيِّنْ من آية في السماوات وَالأَرْضِ يَمُرُّونَ أَيْ: يَمْشُونَ عَلَيْهَا فِي قِرَاءَةِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودِ وَهُمْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضُونَ.
١٢٠٣٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا صَفْوَانُ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ ثنا خُلَيْدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ وَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ آية في السماوات وَالأَرْضِ يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهَا وَهُمْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضُونَ قَالَ: هِيَ فِي قِرَاءَةِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ يَمْشُونَ عَلَيْهَا قَالَ: فِي السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ آيَتَانِ عَظِيمَتَانِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ بِاللَّهِ إِلا وَهُمْ مشركون.

١٢٠٣٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْعِجْلِيُّ ثنا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ بِاللَّهِ إِلا وَهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ تَسْأَلُهُمْ مَنْ خَلَقَهُمْ؟ وَمَنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ: اللَّهُ فَذَلِكَ إِيمَانُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَعْبُدُونَ غَيْرَهُ.
١٢٠٣٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، الأَشَجُّ ثنا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الأَحْمَرُ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ أَبِي بَزَّةَ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ بِاللَّهِ إِلا وَهُمْ مُشْرِكُونَ قَالَ:
١٢٠٣٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ اللاحِقِيُّ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَبُو شُعْبَةَ صَاحِبُ الطَّيَالِسَةِ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ الْحَسَنُ، عَنْ هَذِهِ الآيَةِ: وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُمْ بِاللَّهِ
