al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "Until, when the messengers despaired," he said: The messengers despaired of the belief of their people, and they thought that they had been denied (kudhibu), and the people of the messengers thought that the messengers had lied (kadhaba) in what they brought to them, [then] Our victory came to them. He said: Our victory came to the messengers.
12063 - Yunus ibn ‘Abd al-A’la reported to us by reading, Ibn Wahb reported to us, Sulayman ibn Bilal informed me, from Yahya ibn Sa‘id, who said: A man came to al-Qasim ibn Muhammad and said: Indeed, Muhammad ibn Ka‘b al-Qurazi says regarding this verse: "Until, when the messengers despaired and thought that they had been denied (kudhibu)," al-Qasim said: Inform him from me that I heard ‘A’isha, the wife of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), saying: "Until, when the messengers despaired and thought that they had been denied (kudhibu)," she says: Their followers denied them.
12064 - ‘Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us, Mufaddal ibn Fadala narrated to us, from Abu Sakhr, "Until, when the messengers despaired and thought that they had been denied, Our victory came to them," he says: Until when the messengers despaired of the belief in what they were promised, Our victory came to them—the verse.
12065 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi reported to us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj reported to us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah: "Until, when the messengers despaired and thought that they had been denied," he said: The messengers despaired that their people would believe in them, and their people, the polytheists, thought: If they have been denied (kudhibu) regarding what Allah promised them of His victory for them over them, then they have been deceived.
His saying, the Exalted: "Our victory came to them."
12066 - Abu Zur‘a narrated to us, Minjab narrated to us, Bishr ibn ‘Umara reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "Our victory came to them," he said: Our victory came to the messengers.
12067 - My father narrated to us, Suwayd ibn Sa‘id narrated to us, ‘Ali ibn Mushir narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Muslim ibn Subayh, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "Until, when the messengers despaired," he said: The messengers despaired of their people, and they thought that their people had not believed them, and their people thought that the messengers had lied to them, [then] Our victory came to them. He said: The punishment.
His saying, the Exalted: "And We saved whom We willed."
12068 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d reported to us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "And We saved whom We willed," he said: We saved the messengers and whom We willed.
الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْأَسَ الرُّسُلُ قَالَ: اسْتَيْئَسَ الرُّسُلُ مِنْ إِيمَانِ قَوْمِهِمْ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا وَظَنَّ قَوْمُ الرُّسُلِ أَنَّ الرُّسُلَ قَدْ كَذَبَتْ فِيمَا جَاءَتْ بِهِ جَاءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا قَالَ: جَاءَ الرُّسُلَ نَصْرُنَا.
١٢٠٦٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى قِرَاءَةً أنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلالٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ مُحَمَّدَ ابن كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيُّ يَقُولُ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْأَسَ الرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا فَقَالَ الْقَاسِمُ: فَأَخْبَرَهُ عَنِّي أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَقُولُ: حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْأَسَ الرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا تَقُولُ: كَذَّبَتْهُمْ أَتْبَاعُهُمْ.
١٢٠٦٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا مُفَضَّلُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي صَخْرٍ حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْأَسَ الرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا جَاءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا يَقُولُ: حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْئَسَ الرُّسُلُ مِنْ إِيمَانِ ما وعدوا به جاءهم نصرنا الآيَةَ
١٢٠٦٥ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ أَنَا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْأَسَ الرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا قَالَ: اسْتَيْئَسَ الرُّسُلُ أَنْ يُؤْمِنَ لَهُمْ قَوْمُهُمْ، ظَنَّ قَوْمُهُمُ الْمُشْرِكُونَ:
إِنْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا مَا وَعَدَهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ نَصْرِهِمْ إِيَّاهُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأُخْلِفُوا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: جَاءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا
١٢٠٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابٌ أَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: جَاءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا قَالَ جَاءَ الرُّسُلَ نَصْرُنَا.
١٢٠٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: حَتَّى إِذَا اسْتَيْأَسَ الرُّسُلُ قَالَ: اسْتَيْئَسَ الرُّسُلُ مِنْ قَوْمِهِمْ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّ قَوْمَهُمْ لَمْ يُصَدِّقُوهُمْ، وَظَنَّ قَوْمُهُمْ أَنَّ الرُّسُلَ قَدْ كَذَّبُوهُمْ جَاءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا قَالَ: الْعَذَابُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَنُجِّيَ مَنْ نَشَاءُ.
١٢٠٦٨ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: فَنُجِّيَ مَنْ نَشَاءُ قَالَ: فَنُنَجِّيَ الرُّسُلَ وَمَنْ نَشَاءُ.
