12076 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Mu‘awiya narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from ‘Atiyya, from Abu Sa‘id regarding His saying: "And mercy," [it means] that He made you among the people of the Qur'an.

12077 - ‘Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja‘far al-Razi narrated to us, from al-Rabi‘ ibn Anas, from Abu al-‘Aliya regarding His saying: "And mercy," he said: His mercy is the Qur'an.

His saying, the Exalted: "For a people who believe."

12078 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Isa narrated to us, Salama narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq: "And guidance and mercy for a people who believe," meaning: forgiveness for what they have committed.

12079 - Muhammad ibn al-‘Abbas narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Salama narrated to us, Salama narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq: "And guidance and mercy for a people who believe," meaning forgiveness for what they committed within it regarding the incident, and for what they differed over regarding the reports about it, and the estrangement, and knowledge of Allah’s decree and His gentleness, and what came to Joseph and Jacob of His mercy after the trial with which He tested them, until He returned each one of them to his companion, and every man among those who transgressed against him acknowledged his sin and crime, and [it was] an admission by them of His favor, His knowledge, and His forbearance, and His slight reproach toward them for what they had done to Him.
