al-Hakam ibn Aban said: I heard ‘Ikrimah saying: Indeed, Allah created the heavens, the earth, and what is between them on Sunday, then He established [Himself] upon the Throne on Friday at the third hour.

His saying: "Upon the Throne."

12096 - My father narrated to us, Isma‘il ibn Abi Uways narrated to us, ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Hazim informed me, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father, from al-Saluli, from Ka‘b al-Ahbar, who said: Indeed, when Allah (Azza wa Jalla) created the creation, He established [Himself] upon the Throne, and it glorified Him, meaning: the Throne.

The discussion regarding the Throne has already preceded more than once.

His saying: "And He subjected the sun and the moon, each running for a specified term."

12097 - My father narrated to us, Salamah ibn Shabib narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn al-Hakim ibn Aban narrated to us, my father narrated to me, from ‘Ikrimah, who said: The expanse of the sun is the expanse of the entire earth plus one-third, and the expanse of the moon is the expanse of the earth [once over]. When the sun sets, it enters beneath the Throne and glorifies Allah until, when it reaches morning, it asks its Lord for permission to emerge. The Lord says to it—and the Lord knows best—"And why is that?" It replies: "Indeed, when I emerge, I am worshipped [instead of You]." The Lord says to it: "Emerge, for there is nothing of that [blame] upon you."

"Hell is sufficient for them; I will send it upon them with thirteen thousand angels leading it until they drive them into it."

His saying, the Exalted: "He regulates the command."

12098 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding "He regulates the command," he said: He executes it alone.

His saying: "He details the signs."

12099 - Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding "He details the signs," [he said]: As for "nufassilu" (we detail), it means we make clear.

His saying: "That you may be certain of the meeting with your Lord."

12100 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray‘ narrated to us, who said: I heard Sa‘id, from Qatada, regarding His saying: "That you may be certain of the meeting with your Lord," he said: Indeed, Allah (Tabaraka wa Ta‘ala) only sent down His Book and sent His Messengers so that His promise would be believed in and His meeting would be certain."
