His saying: "And non-twinned."

12124 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashaj narrated to us, ‘Amr al-‘Anqazi narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Bara’, regarding "and non-twinned," he said: "The separate ones."

12125 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Jabir ibn Sa‘id narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, regarding "twinned and non-twinned," he said: He says: when there are five or six [trunks] their base is one, their branches are diverse, and their fruits are different. And "non-twinned" is the palm tree that is not solitary.

His saying: "Irrigated by one water."

12126 - Hajjaj ibn Hamza narrated to us, Shababa narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Irrigated by one water": "The water of the sky, just like the righteous among the children of Adam and their wicked [ones]; their father is one."

His saying: "And We make some of them excel others in [the quality of] fruit."

12127 - My father narrated to us, ‘Ali ibn Hashim ibn Marzuq narrated to us, Ishaq ibn Yusuf al-Azraq narrated to us, from Sufyan al-Thawri, from ‘Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: "And We make some of them excel others in [the quality of] fruit," he said: "This is sour and this is sweet, and this is Qul and this is Farsi [varieties]."

His saying: "Indeed, in that are signs for a people who reason."

12128 - Ahmad ibn al-Azhar informed us in what he wrote to me, Wahb ibn Jarir narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from ‘Ali ibn al-Hakam, from al-Dahhak, regarding "twinned and non-twinned," he says: "Irrigated by one water, yet some of them are better than others in yield. So in that is a sign for a people who reason."

His saying, the Exalted: "And if you are amazed."

12129 - ‘Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Abu al-Jamahir narrated to us, Sa‘id ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Qatada, regarding His saying: "And if you are amazed," O Muhammad, "then amazing is their saying." Al-Hasan used to say: "If you are amazed, O Muhammad, by their denying you, then amazing is their saying."

12130 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And if you are amazed then amazing is their saying," he said: "If you are amazed by their denial, while they have seen of the power of Allah, His command, and what He set forth for them as parables, and He showed them of the raising of the dead and the dead earth, if you are amazed by this, then be amazed at their saying."
