Sufyan, from ‘Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib, from Sa’id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "And for every people there is a guide." He said: The Guide is Allah (Mighty and Majestic is He).

'Atiyyah narrated it from Ibn ‘Abbas similarly, and it was also narrated from al-Dahhak similarly.

And the second interpretation:

12150 - Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, Abu Dawud al-Hafari narrated to us, from Sufyan al-Thawri, from al-Suddi, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding: "You are only a warner, and for every people there is a guide." He said: He is the warner and He is the guide.

12151 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ya‘la narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Qays, from Mujahid regarding: "And for every people there is a guide." He said: A prophet.

And it was narrated from Abu al-Duha and ‘Ikrimah similarly.

And the third interpretation:

12152 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, ‘Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, al-Muttalib ibn Ziyad narrated to us, from al-Suddi, from ‘Abd Khayr, from ‘Ali regarding: "And for every people there is a guide." He said: The guide is a man from Banu Hashim.

Ibn al-Junayd said: He is ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him).

It was narrated from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas in one of the narrations, and from Abu Ja‘far Muhammad ibn ‘Ali similarly.

And the fourth interpretation:

12153 - Kathir ibn Shihab narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Sa‘id ibn Sabiq narrated to us, Abu Ja‘far al-Razi narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Anas narrated to us, from Abu al-‘Aliyah regarding His saying: "You are only a warner, and for every people there is a guide." He said: The guide is the leader (al-qa’id), and the leader is the Imam, and the Imam is the action (al-‘amal).

12154 - My father narrated to me, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding his saying: "And for every people there is a guide." He said: A caller (da’in).
